View Full Version : Batman Villains You'd Like To See In The New Movie

In all of the theatrical versions of Batman, the same old villains are presented like The Joker(which is understandable because Joker is the #1 villain in the Batman universe), Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, & Two-Face. Now the incredibly awful Batman & Robin threw us a little curve giving us Poison Ivy with a dash of Bane(who was not only grossly underused but grossly misrepresented). The Batman reboot of Batman Begins did give us Scarecrow(even though Nolan didn't scratch the surface of what the Crane/Scarecrow character could have been) but we even got Ra's Al Ghul who is definitely not a mainstream villain. Batman: The Dark Knight gave us back a Joker(as brilliant as Heath Ledger was in the role, it really wasn't a Joker type performance) and then Nolan really put the Two Face character in a blender and hit frappe killing off a very popular villain.

Well, the 3rd installment is set to come out in 2012 and Batman fans like myself want Nolan to be somewhat creative in choosing his villain(s) as he did in Batman Begins. Instead of trotting out Penguin or Catwoman, I'm hoping to see a character like Hush. Hush, real name Tommy Elliot, was a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne. He grew up in a privileged home as well but it wasn't as happy a homelife as Bruce. Well, Elliott tried to kill his parents. He succeeded in killing his father but his mother survived thanks to the efforts of Bruce's father. To make a long story short, Elliott began to hate Bruce because of this and with a little help from Scarecrow and Riddler, he sets out to kill Bruce Wayne under the personna of Hush who wore a mask of bandages. In Nolan's world, this could work because it looks like Nolan is going to shy away from the supernatural enemies like Clayface or Killer Croc. Hush could be teamed with Black Mask instead of Riddler helping him out. I'm a fan of the more realistic Batman villains like Hush, Black Mask, The Great White Shark, and if they want to go in the direction of a real mystery, Calender Man. Even Prometheus could work but I don't know how they'd work with a guy who dresses in black knight's armor. Well, what do you all think? Who would make a great villain in the next Batman movie?

They could further develop the character of the Scarecrow. He had a very brief appearance in The Dark Knight.

It's too bad Heath Ledger died. He was great as the Joker, plus I liked him in 10 Things I Hate About You.

They could build off the Joker, with Harley Quinn.

Meh. I find Harley Quinn a bit over the top and annoying.

I think if used right, she would have been great alongside Ledger in The Dark Knight.

How about Clayface or Hugo Strange . . . .But given how dark the new movies have been - Zsasz or Grundy would be perfect.

Clayface, no, only because Nolan seems to be shying away from the super-power type villains. You won't see Prometheus either. Hugo Strange is a possibility. Zsasz has already been shown but only briefly in Batman Begins. Speaking of which, in the game Batman: Arkham Asylum, Zsasz is the easiest to take out. Done so with relative ease. 2 shots both times you see him.

Isn't Grundy more of a Green Lantern villain?

I'm trying to get through it on hard right now. The only thing I didn't like about the game was Ivy's involvement. The boss fight with her was totally unnecessary. The riddler challenges are a pain as well. I might try to complete the game on easy or something while not doing any of his challenges(save for the first one) and see what happens.

I rented it a while ago. I'll probably go back and buy it used now that the price has dropped.

Due out in early 2011. There is a lot of speculation about who is going to be involved. Joker and Harley obviously but the trailer references Black Mask(the warehouse Joker is in has "Sionis" on it which is Black Mask's name). Two Face(the "We Want You" poster). Catwoman(a silhouette of a cat is seen). And Penguin(we see the Iceberg Lounge). In the first game, there is a secret room you can find that has the plans for the new Arkham Asylum. Figured they would need a new one considering all the damage Batman and Ivy's plants caused the old one.

A couple casting ideas:
Penguin: Philip Seymour Hoffman (He was rumored to play him when 'Dark Knight' was in development, and he'd be the perfect choice, especially if they go more for the suave, sophisticated, slightly odd- looking gentleman criminal he is in the comics and the Kevin Conroy animated series).
Poison Ivy: Christina Hendricks (She'd be the ultimate choice to play Ivy).

You won't see Ivy unless the re-do the character and take away the fact that she's part plant. Here she is from the Arkham Asylum game:
