It's like 57 F here right now. Even if it was warmer, there's too much lightening potential for outdoor swimming. Good on you guys, though. :)

I'm happy that you are enjoying the new house & pool.

Life is too short to live in the Midwest. :) There are many things that I miss about Illlinois but then I think of the things that I dont miss. Snow, mosquitos, ice & humidity.

I've been working on trying to sell my mom's house and getting her a condo. Found a nice all ground floor unit on a golf course. She would still only be a mile away from my place. There are a couple minor issues that I need to check on and might make an offer on Saturday.

I looked at a 1900 sq ft house for myself and ended up being lied to by a real estate agent that wanted me to look at something else.

I thought the lady was full of shit so I double checked with another agent today to find out the house sold yesterday. It was on a one acre lot and had a great garage & workshop. The huge family room windows had a great view of the mountains.

I really don't need a new house or any thing that big. But now is the time to buy, a lot of great deals.

Is SLW starting to have a better opinion of Florida?

I'll go out on a limb here and say yes!

We need to hit Siesta Key Beach soon. We might go to St. Armands Key tomorrow as they are having a high end Craft show. It was running today and tomorrow. They have these shows several times a year and in different places like Longboat Key and Siesta Key but the one at St. Armands tends to have the highest end "stuff".

Then again we just might stay home and hit the pool. :D

Glad you guys are enjoying it. We're up in Detroit right now enjoying Michigan. Had lunch/dinner at a Japanese Ramen shop today. Very good food. I got the hot and spicy ramen, and I'm not ashamed to say it made me cry at one point when I got a bit of the broth down the wrong tube.

The wife and I got a night at Little River Casino coming up. Gonna throw some money away, and have a wonderful night without a 2 year old baby. Then we're hitting Michigan Adventures on wednesday. First time I'll have been to a water park in 14 years. :D

You should take her to the Craft show and then out to eat. From her "I hate FL thread", you need all the Brownie points you can get.:)

Sounds wonderful, nice and cool.

As far as the Japanese Ramen shop, have never had anything as good as the ramen your wife cooked. :)

Have been trying to make the best of it here. I was accepted into the guide (docent) program at Mote Marine Research Lab. I'll be working in the marine mammal side of the facility, where they have some manatees, dolphin and loggerhead sea turtles.

Yesterday I went to the Selby Botanical Garden's orientation for volunteers. They're supposed to call and individually interview the attendees. I'm torn between helping with the preparation of plants for their file (dried plants), helping in the DNA area, or being a docent at the mansion on the facility. I'm at the point where I just want to be in the AC. The garden is along Sarasota Bay and is gorgeous, but it's too blankety blank hot to be outside for very long.

The neighbors continue to be not very friendly, but that's what happens when moving into an established neighborhood with not too many transients. Many of the residents have been here for 20-30 years. The only friendly neighbor is on vacation now but should be back at tne end of next week.

The neighbors are just worried about the young people taking over. :)

Takes a while for them to take a shine to you''ll. Invite a couple of them over for hot dogs and burgers on the 4th and see what happens.
