Me too. Wot do you like to read?

Philosophy, psychology, political and cultural analysis, religion/theology (christian, buddhist, taoist, hindu)

Lately I've been trying to understand Jaques Lacan, reading lots of Slavoj Zizek for the past few months and his critics.

For shits and giggles I like to read things like Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter.

Right now I'm reading a book specifically on Emmanual Kant, a broader book called the Genealogy of Nihilism by Conor Cunningham, and Chris Hedges' Empire of Illusion in bits and pieces because my library is holding it on reserve so I can only read it in there.

I like psychology and anthropology with a focus on archaeology.

I read a lot of history and political stuff. Never read much philoophy.

I read a lot of theological works.

Sounds like you got a thing for the past. Very fascinating stuff.

I studied Psychology in college, spent some time during and after doing research too, and with the heavily scientific aspect to it, I never had much respect for Psychoanalysis.

That's changed though, psychoanalysis has given me far more perspective on how people's minds are working than simple cognitive psychology. If you have interest in it, I HIGHLY recommend, to everyone actually, some Jaques Lacan. There's an entire psychoanalytic wiki on the guy's incredibly complex theory: http://www.nosubject.com

Personally, I feel they all tie together, philosophy - theology - psychology - sociology - politics

Even mathematics and physics tie in once you get in there enough.

Never read Lucan. Sounds interesting. In school analytic psychology was taught historically but then pretty much ignored. I found it interesting but never really delved into it in any depth.

You should read it. I'm sure it would reinforce many of your beliefs.

I don't hold paranoid delusions about jews taking over the world or jews doing much of anything except making really funny tv shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm. I took some classes on religion, including Judaism in college, seemed pretty interesting but living in Texas I don't really meet many jewish people (or maybe I do I'm not too sure how to tell since most people don't start talking about their religion).

I don't have anything against anyone of any religion. I have been, and remain critical of the State of Israel for it's state-sanctioned actions, but I love Jews like everyone else.

You're right though about one thing, I may enjoy reading it, but I don't consume media to reinforce my beliefs, often times it's to try to grasp the belief structure of those I DISAGREE with, often times it's to directly deconstruct my own belief structure. This is why I watch Fox News all day and post here.

but living in Texas I don't really meet many jewish people Interesting because there is a fairly active Jewish population in Texas - especially in Austin, Huston, and Galveston and a several Rabbinical school down there - one of which a few years back was actively praying for my conversion after an online friend who is a Rabbinical student there in Dallas found out that I am a Jew according to the Law and what tribe from which my family comes.

I don't have anything against anyone of any religion. I have been, and remain critical of the State of Israel for it's state-sanctioned actions, but I love Jews like everyone else. What a pathetic cop out.

I was HUMOR, which is weird because I've got a chap book of poetry and 12 short stories published ( science fiction, fantasy and horror).

A couple of months ago, I found out my chap book is being used as a text book; oh the wonders of the Universe.
