Anyone know if he is running for reelection? If so, Im betting his chances of getting reelected have just been diminished.

Etheridge caught in on-camera confrontation

RALEIGH (WTVD) — North Carolina Congressman Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) is taking heat after a conservative blogger posted video on YouTube showing him in a confrontation with men carrying cameras on a Washington street.

The story by Mike Flynn says the men were students. In the video, they ask the congressman if he supports the Obama agenda…

Etheridge’s reaction is to demand to know who the photographers are. He then gets physical. He grabs the camera from one man and then takes him by the wrist. In the video, the photographer’s faces are blurred and their identities aren’t given. They never identify themselves to the congressman other than to say they’re students working on a project.

When they continue to refuse to identify themselves, Etheridge grabs one around the neck and then the shoulders refusing to let him go. The man eventually slips Etheridge’s grasp and the video ends…

ABC11 has left messages with Etheridge’s office to get his side of the story about what happened. We’re waiting to hear back.

Meanwhile, Republicans are weighing in. National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Jon Thompson e-mailed a comment to ABC11:

“Bob Etheridge has lost it. His conduct is unbecoming of a member of Congress. It’s bad enough that he’s joined Obama’s assault on North Carolina jobs, but his physical assault on a college student goes beyond the pale.”

Note, too, that Mr. Etheridge takes the student’s cell phone away from him, and does not give it back.

So he appears to be a thief, as well as lunatic.

I would have given Bob the surprise of his life. He wouldn't have been too quick to return to the office sporting his new Raccoon look.

I wish the students would have answered him with: I'm an American citizen exercising his right of free speech by asking his public SERVANT a few questions.

*sigh* Imagine had this been a Republican congressman. You can bet your bippy that the left is blaming the kid. Had it been one of their myrmidons, the meltdown would have been catastrophic. Obama himself would say something.

You should read the way this is being played up by the liberal rags.

Rep. Bob Etheridge Apologizes

North Carolina Rep. Bob Etheridge apologized for slamming the camera after being accosted on a Washington street by a youthful camera crew.

His apology seems half hearted, "I got busted" and toward the end, he trys to come up with a lame excuse.

What day did this happen? I haven't heard.I think Friday. Turns out it was the evening though.

I can't wait for the spoofs to come out. His "who are you" when his face is close to the camera should make for hours of entertainment.

They got their talking points out now.

The Democrats' talking points:

1. There is always the part of the story that you can’t see in these gotcha style videos — what were these folks doing, how did they approach him, how were the cameraman and/or others off camera acting?

2. Why would any legitimate student doing a project or a journalist shagging a story not identify themselves. Motives matter — what was the motivation here? To incite this very type of reaction?

3. This is clearly the work of the Republican Party and the “interviewer” is clearly a low level staffer or intern. That’s what explains blurring the face of the “interviewer” and refusing to identify the entity this was done for. The Republicans know if they were caught engaging in this type of gotcha tactic it would undermine their own credibility — yet if it was an individual acting on his own there is no reason that person would have blurred themselves out of the video — and if it was the work of a right wing blog they would have their logo on the video and be shouting their involvement from the roof top.

4. This was a purposefully partisan hit job designed to incite a reaction for political reasons — but it is a tactic so low — the parties involved are remaining anonymous.

5. The fact that no one wants to take credit for this should raise real questions in the minds of voters and the press.

6. Push hard w/ blogs the lack of credibility inherent to anything Breitbart does/posts, given its role in the debunked ACORN videos:
