This was expected. She needs to pay off her campaign debt.

I am disappointed. I really want to see this go to the Convention. Politics hasn't been this much fun in a long time.

Obama will probably weather the storm out and pick a female at the convention in some attempt to make up for it, McCain will probably do the same to appeal just as much.

If McCain picked a female VP, who do you think it would be?

Probably Sarah Palin. Condi Rice would be exceptionally stupid in my view.

I wonder how Kay Bailey Hutchings from Texas would be? There's also Elizabeth Dole, haven't seen her name for a long time.

I think Palin would be a front runner because of her age and her high high popularity in Alaska.

And she's a newer, fresher figure.

And she's a newer, fresher figure.

But she also has a family with needs that her husband couldn't handle alone (I think she recently gave birth to a mentally challenged child and has to raise him too). So it could be anyone I suppose, I think McCain's choice would be more interesting than Obama's.

It means you get to keep your delegates and work to pay off your campaign debt. The delegates are leverage at the convention for the platform among other things.

I heard the most interesting rumor this morning. I heard that Obamas people were in secret talks with Clintons people to publicly offer Hillary the VP slot but only if she promised not to accept it....

I can already see her agreeing to those terms then when the "offer" is made...she accepts! :D

She might have a name recognition problem, considering that her last name is Hutchison. ;)

Not to be ageist, but I think that the McCain campaign might consider her too old.

Also, I saw a Sarah Palin interview with Glenn Beck, I think she'd say yes if offered.

I doubt that they'd offer it. Hillary would upstage Obama constantly, and Bill would upstage them both. unless they could lock him in a trunk for the duration of the campaign, he'd just bring too much baggage. Also, once the two of them were in office, there'd be a constant power struggle between the Billary staff and the Obama staff. It would be four years of infighting that would make the primary look like a ballet recital.

I'm not sure that McCain would pick Palin, although if he did, she'd certainly be an asset to the campaign, and if nothing else, we'd see the term "GILF" enter common usage.
