I have a cousin, Eddie. He is the same age as my oldest daughter and they grew up almost as brother and sister. His two older brothers are closer to my age. A few years ago, he was involved in a horrible car wreck. It was doubtful he would ever walk again. He never gave up. He went through painful surgeries, very demanding physical therapy and even though he could not feel his legs, he took a step. Then another. Before long he was walking, with difficulty, but walking.

Yesterday, I was at his wedding and everyone was overjoyed to see him take his first dance with his new bride. Well done, Eddie. Well, done.

There could've been bad blood between my cousin Little Joe (his father Jose is Big Joe) and me. Our grandmother owned a ranch. My father and I used to work it for her. In her will she had put down that I was to have that ranch when she died. That was before I went to prison. At the time, I was sentenced to do life without parole. Little Joe being the next oldest of the grandsons was who she left it to when she changed her will. She died about a year before I was released after winning my appeal. No biggie. I can hunt and shoot there anytime I want. I keep some stock there and if get Deeanna a horse I can keep it there.

May one ask the bride's name? Eddie and ... ?

She is very pretty, if I may say so.

Linda. That is the bride's name.

Someone who enjoyed meeting family who she did not even know existed a couple of weeks ago was Deeanna.

We have a saying in Italian I would like to express to the happy couple:

Buona fortuna e cent'anni! Which means good luck for 100 years. The short version is just cent anni.
