I would be very suprised if teh spankies get to the ALCS, their pitching is in the toilet its no where near as good as it was last year.

This year the Phills is way better then the yanks of last year and we have home field (if we make it to the WS, dont want to jinx them) :)

Not having watched a single Yankees game, I can't attest to their pitching problems.

However, having watched my team finish 5th in our division with a 65-97 record, I can assure you, the Yankees pitching is not as bad as you might think. :D

You've all lost your friggin' minds.

I'm not even voting because I can't be lumped in with a bunch of crazy people. The Braves? The Rangers? Ha. I can go find eight friends right now and beat either of those teams in 4.

Phils 11-0 throughout.

Roy Halladay is undoubtedly the best pitcher in baseball right now. And even though I'm a Phillies fan, I've never had the feeling that there is no team in the playoffs right now who can beat us. None. The only team that can beat the Phillies are the Phillies. This team is healthy, back in form, and have the scariest starting 3 in the game.

Famous last words....

He's a great pitcher.
The Reds are soft.

One little note. The National league is inferior to the American league. He doesn't pitch a no hitter to an ALteam. He's been in the league more than a decade and he pitches his first two no hitters............in the National league.

And you have that backwards. The AL will ALWAYS be inferior for two reasons: The DH and the fact that Terry Francona did shit when with the Phillies but won a WS with the Red Sox. Proof positive that you can be a total incompetent and still be successful managing in the AL.

He doesn't pitch a no hitter to an ALteam. He's been in the league more than a decade and he pitches his first two no hitters............in the National league."In his second career start, against the Detroit Tigers on September 27, 1998, Halladay had what would have been the third no-hitter ever pitched on the final day of a regular season broken up with two outs in the ninth...The home run was the only hit Halladay would allow in a 21 Blue Jays victory, as he recorded his first major league win."

In only his second start in the AL, Halladay goes 8 2/3 of no hit ball. Granted, not a no-hitter but impressive for start number 2. In the mighty AL.

I stand by my conviction the AL blows due to the DH and Terry Francona. :p

Howard is a home run hitter, yes, but this season he became an all around better hitter. His average was up and his strike outs were actually down this season. However, his RBI's were good meaning he's still doing his job. He played in 20 less games this year and still hit 31 homers and knocked in 108. I'd say he's earning his paycheck. As for the playoffs, Utley hit the only HR for the Phils but they didn't need it did they? And last season, as I said, no one hit in the World Series but Howard did well in the LDS and LCS. As well as in the 2008 playoffs.

Phils need to win it in 5 games or less because of this little stat:

The Phillies have been to the World Series 7 times. In 5 of those, they earned the right via the League Championship Series. In 1980 and 2008, the Phillies closed out the LCS on the road(@ Houston & @ LA), and they won the World Series. In 1983, 1993, and 2009, the Phils closed out the LCS at home and went on to lose the World Series. So, we need to close it out on the road.

Been this way all year. I was afraid of this. Not hitting with RISP. Can't afford a cold spell now. Also, it's easy for the Giants to get these hits when the umpire is giving them 4 strikes per at bat. Should have been out of that inning but Halladay got squeezed on what should have been strike 3.

Howard's a power hitter and most power hitters strike out a bunch. He's being paid $25 mil a year because he hits a ton of home runs. He was hurt most of the season an still had over 100 RBI's. Rollins, on the other hand, is supposed to be the table setter. As a leadoff hitter, he's supposed to get on base and make things happen. He doesn't do that hence he's hitting 6th now. Personally, I'd rather see Valdez playing SS. He's a much better fielder and at least gets his bat on the ball. Rollins, these days, either strikes out or hits a pop up. Which is the reason he now has the nickname J-Pop(instead of J-Roll).

I think this may motivate Rollins. They walked Werth just to get to him. 2 outs and they walk a batter to load the bases and he misses giving a fan a souvenir by mere centimeters. Personally, I think Rollins should make believe every pitcher is Johnathan Broxton.

If we had kept Lee, we would have never gotten Oswalt. That said, had we kept Lee, our pitching staff would look like this:

Roy Halladay

Mark my words, the Phils are about to go down 3-1. IMO, I'd rather see them run Halladay out on 3 days rest. This is as much of a must win if there ever was one. Realistically, all the Phils have to do is win 1 game in SF but Blanton does not strike me with a whole lot of confidence.

The person I feel sorry for is Hamels. This team just does not score runs for this kid. Counting today, the Phillies have given him 2 runs or less run support 16 times, in 35 starts. This includes 5 shutouts. How many pitchers do you know who are on the wrong end of a shut out 5 times in a season?

On the lighter side, the Yankees are getting spanked again.

1.78 ERA in September, the fifth-best mark by any team in any month in the last 90 years.Being fifth best at something, during the regular season, is the best you can come up with? LMAO.

By the way, it's October and the Series will extend into November. A far cry from September.

SF Regular Season ERA: 3.36
SF Postseason ERA: 2.52

Philly Regular Season ERA: 3.67
Philly Postseason ERA: 2.42

Rangers Regular Season ERA: 3.93
Rangers Postseason ERA: 2.76

Since you value ERA so much, shouldn't the Phillies win the NLCS and then the WS since they have the best postseason ERA right now? Even better than the vaulted Giants? zOMG

Well we will see about wrapping it up.

if not for ross or coss or whatever that douches name was they would be down a game. So pitching its not quite it.

Good grief.... Pitching is EVERYTHING. And..yeah...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the Septemer pitching stats and the fact that the Phils are on the brink is a pretty good indicator how hot the Giants rotation has been. I think that's a pretty effective stat.

And the Giants are still pitching pretty much to those September numbers.

Ask the Yanks how important pitching is. It doesn't matter who the Yanks have had with big bats.... When they haven't had strong starters....they get thumped

uh...5th best in the reg season? No..5th best in 90 years. Yeah....that's a pretty good indicator. Just ask the 2-3 Phils.

I wouldn't classify their looks as dejected. It looked more like "oh shit" looks to me.

I give credit where credit is due. The Giants have earned every bit of this lead. None of their 3 wins was cheap. The Phils, on the other hand, had to rely on some real crazy stuff the other night to score 3 of their runs.

Did anyone catch the post-game interview with Brian Wilson? Dude is weird.

And what was he talking about when referring to "the machine". I want to know and yet, I'm sure I really don't. But the commentators were all snickering afterward about it without explaining it.

Ryan Howard is an overrated, overpaid piece of horseshit. Bases loaded, 2 out, full count, and he.....watched strike 3 just sail on by. Just like you played it out on the playground as a kid, eh Ryan? I couldn't find an updated picture of Ryan Howard. This is all I could find:
