Washington (CNN) -- The House panel looking into ethics accusations against a key Democratic representative stopped deliberations for the day late Monday afternoon and will return to its executive session deliberations Tuesday morning.

Embattled Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-New York, walked out of the House ethics subcommittee trial on Monday, complaining he has not had sufficient time to hire a new legal team to respond to corruption allegations.

The subcommittee rejected Rangel's request to delay the hearing until a new defense team is assembled.

Rangel faces 13 allegations, include failing to pay taxes on a home in the Dominican Republic, misuse of a rent-controlled apartment for political purposes and improper use of government mail service and letterhead.



And this scum just got re-elected by over 80%. :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yeah they all quit, citing his inability to pay future billings as the reason.
He said he walked out today, because he needed more time to form a
legal defense fund. Typical democrat, thinking the public needs to
contribute to pay for his legal bills. :mad:

Tell him to find a public defender. I wouldn't get my trial moved off because I didn't have the money to pay for a high priced lawyer.

Come on now, you can't expect himto be ready for this? He only had a few hours to prepare. He doesn't know what this is all about.

Seriously, he figured he could count on the DIMS winning and he would walk. Now he knows that he will actually have to answer pointed questions from adults.

I'm hoping they were in shock. Let's see what the new congress does when they take over. Charlie may be too smart by half with this stunt.
