WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Joe Biden planned to spend Wednesday focusing on his official announcement that he was running for president, but the Delaware Democrat instead found himself defending remarks he made to the New York Observer about his Democratic opponents....His remarks about Obama, the only African-American serving in the Senate, drew the most scrutiny.

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

And the DUmmies freaking out over it:

According to Joe Biden-- Obama's a clean and articulate Negro.

Don't forget this one:

"In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian-Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking."

Biden has a ton of quotes to embarrass him

"If I'm the nominee, Republicans will be sorry. The next Republican that tells me I'm not religious, I'm going to shove my rosary beads down their throat."

Quick, get screen caps before the threads vanish! Since DU is supposed to unswervingly and unquestionably follow the Democratic leadership, I'm sure they want to rewrite history to show they always loved the new VP candidate.

I've never known how to do a screen cap. If you give me some instructions, I'll do my best.

Biden attempted to explain why some schools perform better than others -- in Iowa, for instance, compared with the District. "There's less than 1 percent of the population of Iowa that is African American. There is probably less than 4 or 5 percent that are minorities. What is in Washington? So look, it goes back to what you start off with, what you're dealing with," Biden said

We just have to wait for the next one!;)

Elspeth,

On your keyboard somewhere is a key marked "PrtSc"

You get the screen that you want to capture centered in your monitor, and hit that key.

Then you open Paint or Publisher or any image program and paste it in. In paint you have to do this by opening the "Edit" menu. Publisher lets you do it with a right click.

Then you just save the picture and post it to Photobucket or another pic service.

Like so!

Imagine if Bobby Jindal was our VP nominee - he would destroy Biden for this remark

9. Huge blunder by Biden.
It's been, like, two decades since his last presidential run, and he's already shown that he hasn't overcome his talking-without-thinking problem. This is a big-time fuck-up, IMHO.

Biden may not know it yet, but he's done. Stick a fork in 'im.

Goes to show that every move by anyone was considered racist and put forth as such. Now racist Berry, and his racist wife have some explaining to do.

A few things here:

1. Most of those comments made by DU posters were not particulary anti-Biden. They've always liked Biden over at the Democratic Underground, even after his clean and articulate comments. The DU response was more of amusement.

2. A bunch of 14-year olds with raging hardons posting on an anonymous message board is not an accurate represenation of what Democrats think.

DId you read the threads? And there were more. I was on the board at that time and I remember the anger. I also remember thinking the whole thing was ludicrous. I cannot speak to your evidence (whatever it is) but the threads I have researched and my own memory of events is far different from your statement.

Wait, you research message boards for the purpose of using said research on other message boards? Elspeth, do you ever go out?
