Empire Strikes Back Director Irvin Kershner Has Died


Following a long illness, Irvin Kershner, director of such films as the Star Wars sequel "The Empire Strikes Back," the James Bond film "Never Say Never Again" and "Robocop 2" — has died at age 87.

Kirschner's what pushed the the 2nd film into greatness. Saved us all from George Lucas directing it.

Empire is still my favorite of the series.

Empire is still my favorite of the series.


Empire is the best for a lot of reasons, but these are my main two reasons:

1. They didn't go for the happy ending, saving that for the last movie.
2. The movie didn't get sidetracked by a bunch of silly critters designed for the little kid audience-Yoda is a muppet and all, but he was a great character.


Return of the Jedi would have been much better without the Ewoks.
