“The myth of man-made global warming has reached such a low ebb that even Greenpeace are dropping it."

AS Britain shivered in icy temperatures yesterday, scientists mounted their latest climate change offensive and declared that the world was getting too warm.

The UN launched a special climate change conference, warning of worldwide temperature rises of 4C.

Meanwhile, heavy snow and thick ice brought chaos to Britain and weatherman confirmed that it was the coldest November for 25 years.

But the scientists gathering for the conference in Cancun, Mexico, insisted that temperatures were rising at double the maximum considered safe.

The 10,000 delegates from 193 countries were told that temperature increases would result in sea levels rising by up to six feet, displacing nearly 190 million people.

Delegates heard scientists argue there was “little or no chance” of sticking to the target of keeping global temperature increases to less than 2C above pre-industrial levels.

They said the temperature had already risen this century by 0.7C.

They also warned that a further increase of 3C or 4C was more likely and the rate or warming would accelerate sharply. As a result the world could be 4C warmer by the 2060s.

Dr Mark New, of Oxford University’s school of geography, said: “Even with strong political will, the chances of shifting the global energy system fast enough to avoid 2C are slim. Trajectories that result in temperature rises of 3C or 4C are much more likely.”

Climate change sceptic, writer and broadcaster James Delingpole said: “The great myth of man-made global warming has reached such a low ebb that even Greenpeace and the WWF are dropping the topic.”

Tom Switzer, writing for the Global Warming Policy Foundation, a climate change sceptic think-tank, described the Mexico conference as a “great global warming circus”.

I love when they make these claims during an unseasonal snow storm.
