Even though I didn't care much for his politics, John Lennon was one of the greatest musical minds of all time. He has been sorely missed.

I really wish he would have taking yoko out instead of john :(

I recall a comedy album with Denis Leary in which he talks about how all the good musicians die young and all the bad ones live to old age, and he comments, "The guy who killed John Lennon shot him 3 times, you'd think he could have used 1 of those bullets to take out Yoko, she was standing right next to him!"

I was in high school in 1980. Me and my brother always listened to the radios in our rooms when we were getting ready for school. He was not a Lennon fan at the time, and started yelling "Why are they playing all these John Lennon songs this morning, did he die or something?".

Then, of course, the DJ came on to tell us that John Lennon had been murdered the night before.

Mancow had a skit where you heard Mark David Chapman waiting for Lennon. The you hear Yoko Ono's voice in the distance. Next thing you hear is the gunshots and Chapman saying, Damn! I missed."

Ummm, no. John Lennon has not nor has ever been one of the "greatest musical minds" ever to live. The man had NO vocal range whatsoever and his lyrical writing has much to be desired too...

Um, yeah. Ok. Only about a billion people disagree with you but whatever.

And yet another reason why more people need to take music classes in K-12.

Fifty plus percent of the people of the United States elected Obama as president too.....Doesn't make them smart either.

I liked Lennon, but Paul was the more musically talented of the two. Together, they were awesome and were able to create some epic music. But I don't know if I'd call either one a musical genius.

Pop musicians that are "musical geniuses" are few and far between. Prince is one of them, weird though he may seem. Some of Sting's music, both with the Police and without, borders on genius. David Byrne is close to being a musical genius. These are people who are as innovative as some of the classic composers.

He was okay when he was with the Beatles, but Yoko turned him into a pretentious, talentless hack.

So in other words, your opinion is the only one that matters. Gotcha.
