LAS VEGAS Las Vegas police are looking for an armed casino bandit who escaped on a motorcycle with perhaps $2 million worth of gambling chips from the posh Bellagio hotel-casino.

He says the bandit wore a full-face motorcycle helmet as he displayed a gun in a casino pit area then demanded chips and sped away on Flamingo Road on a black sport-style motorcycle.

We'll find a chopped up skeleton with a motorcycle helmet in the desert in about 20 years. Approximate date of death will be 2 weeks from now.

Why? Does Terry Benedict still own it? :D

Seriously, how stupid is this? 2 things. #1, there is only one place to cash in those chips. And they are going to be looking for this idiot. 2nd, he went for chips. Um, OK. Most robbers go for the cash. This robbery might net this idiot a few hundred but that's all.

Actually there are a lot of places... at least last time I was in Vegas, casinos accepted chips from other casinos.

Uh huh. And someone trying to cash in Bellagio chips at MGM Grand isn't going to be apprehended on the spot, right? Hence my point. At this point this buy can have a bunch of potato chips with the good the ones he got are.

You could probably do it $5000 at a time, spread out over a number of casinos and a network of people "cashing in" and be really careful by limiting how much you cash-in per week.

But people that smart and well organized don't commit these sorts of crimes in the first place.

Bills can be traced. Can the chips? odds are he'd cash in the maximum you can cash in without drawing notice and do it over a long period of time and completely get away with it.

But a lot of the chips he got were $25K chips. He'll have a hell of a time cashing those.
