I'm not sure where the ballroom is, but the beauty of it is still visable. Maybe it's the old Grande Ball Room on Grand River? That building is barely still standing. Someone should get that light fixture out of there and into the Detroit Historic museum (the mural, too), before the building collapses and destroys them both.

I see a lot of those buildings on a daily basis, though. The UA and Michigan theaters were used for various scenes in Eminem's move 8 Mile. The train station has been used in a lot of movies, including The Island. It's fenced off, but people keep getting into it. It's kind of scary, as there abandoned train tunnels and such attached to it, and there are probably both living and dead homeless people down there.

The Lee Tower stands next to Northwestern High School. The base of the building used to be decorated with images of lions, which disappeared in the late 80s or early 90s, and were later discovered being used in a building in Chicago. The building is not really rehabitable at this point, but it's very tall and would be difficult to remove. Plus, a lot of the abandoned buildings in Detroit have asbestos in them and no one can afford to tear them down using the appropriate methods to contain the asbestos dust. If the dust were to spread to the school next door, well, DPS certainly can't afford the lawsuits that would follow.

Detroitís Vanity Ballroom with its unsalvaged art deco chandeliers. Duke Ellington and Tommy Dorsey once played here.

I googled it, and found the building. It's on Jefferson, near Chalmers, near the city line with Grosse Point. It's a cool building on the outside, too. I drive by that one a lot, I have clients in the area. It used to be a very nice neighborhood, for the upper middle classes, and I was in a home recently in that area that was beautifully maintained. It's near the river, and some of the blocks still have the old boat canals in the backyards, not that many of the current residents can afford boats.

That building might still be salvagable. It's mostly intact, unlike some of the others shown. If I win the Mega Millions tonight, I'll buy it, have it restored and use it as an office for whatever charity I decide to start.

You know, if someone would shove a lump of coal up your ass, in 15 minutes you'd shit out a diamond. Holy shit you're the most anal fuck I've ever encountered. Get over your perfect self. People make typos. And since no one ever anointed you the chief of the grammar police I'd suggest you STFU. Sorry for the rant but for fuck's sake I'm sick and tired of the 'correcting' that goes on here.

Correcting should be in quotes ( "correcting" ), not bracketed by apostrophes ( 'correcting').:D

(You know some idiot had to make a useless reply and I am just the idiot to do it.)
