Salisar arrived at the house around 9:30 a.m. and after we had done the usual yakking, Mr. Snaps dropped us off the bus.

Since Salisar had not taken public transportation in 22 years, this was an education for him. As stroller after stroller clogged the aisles, he was treated to a close-up look around mass transit. It's amazing how the lefties constantly clamor for the rest of us to take the bus. Not only does a bus trip take two to three times as long, it's also full of insane people. We met 5 on the trip to Denver.

Once in Denver, we took another bus and made a fair hike to Congress Park to meet the Minute Men. Sadly, we were slightly late for that but still managed to meet and greet a number of anti-illegal immigration folks.

This is George Lilly and he hates Diana DeGette as much as we do. You can take a look at his campaign here. (http://www.georgelillyforcongress.com/) I don't live in that district but somebody does and anybody is better than that whining excuse for a politician named DeGette. Also, George looks trustworthy and sharp in a hat although he would prefer you vote for him based on taxes and his stance on illegal aliens. We discussed this.

This is a pic of an attendee:

We got there during a lull but we have video of the crowd to come later. We were told that various hippies were on their way to disrupt the meeting but we just couldn't wait on the hippies. Instead, we enjoyed a light snack and headed down to Civic Center Park.

Once we made it to the Capitol, we viewed the Civil War memorial (yes, men from Colorado fought in that war)

http://i37.tinypic.com/mincbn.jpg

and then viewed the Veteran's Memorial. This area was vandalized by protesters over the weekend.

http://i38.tinypic.com/ev7y88.jpg

We took a pic of damage but it didn't come out very well. Basically, someone sprayed purple paint on the stone tiles. It was a lame and pointless slogan which mostly indicated trivial neurotic tendencies more than anything else. People had been at work cleaning it off early in the morning.

We had yet to meet the Starvation Guy.

If the pics were a little bigger that would be great, I can hardly make out anything in them.

This guy believes that the U.S. military is exactly the same as German Nazis. He is refusing food and drink until all troops are withdrawn from overseas. Good luck with that.

It's hard to take a hunger-striker seriously when he's yakking to his buddies on his cell phone instead of contemplating imminent death.

These were random protest people in Civic Center Park. Salisar spent most his time getting video of hawt chicks at this point.

This was an enormous mosque-shaped tent covered with huge photos. The basic point of this installation was to convince the Infidels that "Muslims Are Just Like Your Mom". The photos depicted Muslims eating ice cream, riding roller-coasters, and just doing all American stuff in Muslim outfits.

The chick crewing this thing was a blue-eyed blonde in shorts and a sleeveless shirt. Kind of a cultural disconnect there but Salisar and I were totally convinced that Muslims like ice cream.

Cool pics, GS. Judging from the belly bulging over his belt he could stand to starve for a while...

Here is some more on the tent

IRAN AND JIHAD CENTRAL AT THE DNC (http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/08/iran-and-jihad.html)

What the media won't cover. This is the party of the jihad --it is. Of course there would be an Iranian propaganda tent, they got their ticket - Obama and Biden. The party of Ahmadinejad .Over at Looking at the Left: Iranian Potemkin Village at the DNC. BTW, el Marco has the best coverage of the real story- and it's not the story is not on the convention floor. The story is in the streets. and the not the mainstream media is not giving you any coverage on it. Inside the center is pablum. Theater of the absurd

At Civic Center, an exhibit called PICTURES OF YOU, a veritable Potemkin Village of how wonderful life is in Iran. Views from inside and outside Iranian propaganda tent.

From the park we made our way to the 16th Street Mall and the Mall was hopping!

Every few feet we ran into a delegate or a cop. There were no homeless people there and it was strange to walk around without being aggressively panhandled by bums. However, there were plenty of bum-like vendors and a mean ventriloquist with a dummy that looked cursed to me.

The perennial religious dudes were also out in force and we saw this guy:

http://i33.tinypic.com/fon9za.jpg

After another block or so we were commenting on the lack of violence and action in the crowd when a protester got into it with a Christian sign guy. This whole thing was staged, if you ask me. Police magically appeared and the protester got into it with them. Within a few seconds, the bike police, SWAT, and the horse police appeared. The bike police formed a protective circle around the hippy and the cop (both on the ground by now) while SWAT stopped the mall buses and got the crowd back. The horse police just looked really cool. We have video of all this and I'll post it later.

Meanwhile, the friends of the hippy were climbing on fire hydrants and screaming about their friend. Some loud chick just went on auto-rant and a totally different hippy went on this loud outburst concerning the first amendment.

That hippy ended his out burst by saying, "What do you think of that, Officer?" To which the SWAT guy replied, "More cowbell." :D

The police allowed the hippies to continue to shout at the Christians but not touch them. It was all very civilized

If you can find the ones who want to bomb you, the war is over. ;)

At the very end as we were waiting at a lonely bus stop all by ourselves we were approached by by about 40 anarchists:

http://i34.tinypic.com/bdsg2p.jpg

We figured that about 95% of them couldn't buy a legal drink.
