Your standard-issue winter day in the DC area. Half-melted, dirty snow everywhere; leaden skies but the sun will peek through eventually.

TOTD: Alternately fueled cars. Are you ready to go electric, CNG, other? Or are you still dedicated to the gasoline engine?

Gas. The only one I have seen with any style is the Tesla and it will go only 200 miles. The rest look like turds with wheels.

TOTD: I like my internal combustion engine and don't care if it runs on gas, CNG, propane or old McDonald's french fry grease.
Ethanol is a loser as it makes no sense to me to displace growing food for growing fuel while its transition from plant to fuel is so horribly innefficient.
Same with all electric or plug in vehicles. We do not have the power grid to support it nor the excess generation capacity.

Gas for me. I NEVER put that ethanol shit in my engine unless I'm in a tight. I can sure tell the difference when I have to, though.

It snowed again and the roads are kind of a mess but we're getting warmer!

TOTD: I would switch to an alternative fuel system if it was cheaper than a gasoline system. They aren't. We have several hybrids and a natural gas-powered van in the company fleet. The "green" vehicles not only cost more to buy, they cost more to maintain.

I don't have anything against electric cars. I like the emission profile but that electricity has to come from from somewhere and out here it's from coal.

Cold and sunny, highs expected in the 20s.

TOTD: I'd go with a car that used alternative fuels with the following conditions: 1. the fuel and purchase price for the car are cheaper and cleaner than for gasoline powered cars, 2. the car is engineered to be as practical and as useful as a gasoline powered car, 3. the car drives as fast as a gasoline powered car. I drive at least 80 mph on the freeway when I don't have kids in the car with me, I'm not changing that. I was born in Indy! I live in metro Detroit, where we all drive like that.

Warm and sunny in the high 60's to low 70's. :p

TOTD: Until the alternatives are cheaper out the door and actually work, it's gas for me.
