Devices can peer under passengers' clothes

BALTIMORE ó Body-scanning machines that show images of people underneath their clothing are being installed in 10 of the nation's busiest airports in one of the biggest public uses of security devices that reveal intimate body parts.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently started using body scans on randomly chosen passengers in Los Angeles, Baltimore, Denver, Albuquerque and at New York's Kennedy airport.

Airports in Dallas, Detroit, Las Vegas and Miami will be added this month. Reagan National Airport in Washington starts using a body scanner today. A total of 38 machines will be in use within weeks.

"It's the wave of the future," said James Schear, the TSA security director at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, where two body scanners are in use at one checkpoint.

This is terrible, enough airport staff get attracted to me as it is, this is going to triple the numbers at the least.

Just like the full scanners in the movie 'Total Recall'!They have been testing these in 'high risque' locations in Europe and Israel for years. The major problems are the cost, these suckers are over one hundred thousand dollars each and take up a lot of space.Heathrow has a separate inspection building for some high risk destinations like Athens, Jerusalem,Rome and any place with a high incidence of terrorist potential .
Some of the newest detect plastic explosives in bags by the release of signature gasses.Chekoslovak C4 has an unique outgas signature and that seems to be a favorite cheap plastic explosive used by bombmakers.

Wonder if female TSA scanners pressure their male counterparts to operate these machines every time an NBA team comes through their facility?

:D

If they will be used to "randomly" search people, I suspect that hot women will suddenly be targeted as potential terrorists.

I wonder if children will be targeted. It could be a pedophiles dream job.

Well, as long as they don't do a brainscan at the airport. LP will have a hard time explaining how he survives with something that small.
