OAK PARK Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near the top of a 1,000 foot radio broadcast tower Tuesday.

The man was reportedly wearing only a T-shirt and underwear when he was discovered on a platform on the tower.Police said workers discovered the body of a young black man about 12:30 p.m. after they scaled the tower at 20931 Meyers near Eight Mile Road to do repair work.

My money is on lightening. That doesn't explain why he was only in underpants though.

Gee, this is a tough one.

It's March. In Chicago. March; the month that comes after February. In Chicago.

Then they find a guy wearing only his underwear. And they find him 1000 feet in the air.

And they don't know how that guy died??!!:D

PS: The adiabatic lapse rate is about 3 1/2 degrees per 1000 feet. The mean sea level temperature for Chicago on March 6 (for instance) was 29.2 degrees. I'll do the math. That means for this poor schmuck it was about 25.7 degrees. Without the wind chill. Wind speed on March 6 was about 13 MPH. And that brings it down to about 15 degrees.

:(God rest his poor, tortured soul.

This was not on the morning local news this morning. There was a really bad fire in the city last night that killed a couple of little kids, that was the main story.


I drive by the radio towers on a regular basis. I'm guessing it was a suicide.
