View Full Version : Nissan Closes 5 North American Plants in April

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) Nissan Americas is closing five North American plants for several days this month because of supply disruptions stemming from the earthquake in Japan.

The car maker says it had planned to idle production at these plants later in the year, but decided to shut them earlier than scheduled because of the expected disruptions.

The closures affect the following plants:

Smyrna, Tenn., plant, which makes the Nissan Altima, Nissan Maxima, Nissan Xterra, Nissan Frontier and Nissan Pathfinder. It will be closed for six days in April.

Canton, Miss., plant, which makes the Nissan Altima, Nissan Quest, Nissan Armada, Nissan Titan and Infiniti QX56. It will be closed for six days in April.

Decherd, Tenn., plant, which makes powertrains, will also be closed for six days.
