According to Bosho Deza'i, the permanent secretary of Iraq's Justice Ministry, U.S. forces will hand over remaining key figures in the previous Iraqi regime to Iraq, by mid-July.
The individuals are currently imprisoned by the U.S.
Among those to be handed to the Iraqi authorities are former defense minister under Saddam Hussein, Sultan Hashem, as well as Sab'awi and Watban, Saddam's two half-brothers. All three were sentenced to death by a special criminal court.
When the Iraqi official was asked whether the death sentence will be carried out, he replied: "If the execution verdict is approved [by the president's council], then it will be carried out."
Sectarian conflicts among prisoners have caused the authorities to separate the Sunni and Shi'a prisoners.
