Hot but clear on The Mountain today. I plan to do some grilling and watch some of the military history shows that are on this weekend.

I caught part of Tora Tora Tora yesterday. I haven't checked to see what is on today.

TOTD: What are your favorite movies about war? Also, documentaries, etc.

I love Gettysburg and The Battle of the Bulge with Henry Fonda up in the clouds in that little single engine plane.

Patton, gotta have that in there.

Others?

Anything with Robert Mitchum, Lee Marvin, Henry Fonda, Audie Murphy
or Charles Bronson in it. Actually anything made back when the stars were
real life WWII military heros.

I watched the Dirty Dozen again yesterday.
I must have seen that one about thirty-gazillion times, but it never ever gets old.

Our high is forecast to be 102 today.
Yesterday it got to 108 where I was.

the first time I saw the Dirty Dozen was in a Tokyo theatre. since they didn't speak english the audio was in Japanese and sub titled in English. listening to Lee Marvin and the cast talk in Japanese was mind blowing !!!! :D

Has anyone seen The Pacific miniseries from HBO?

I liked Band of Brothers a lot but didn't see much of The Pacific.

Midway and Tora Tora Tora is a good double-feature. Ken Burns Civil War documentary is one of my favorites.

Victory at Sea is older but is an excellent documentary.
