A BLUNDERING dognapper was jailed for two years yesterday after snatching his neighbour’s Yorkshire terrier and demanding £500 ransom.

Ms Lilly and Radzikowski were on friendly terms when they lived in neighbouring flats in Bath, Somerset......At one stage, Radzikowski asked her to help him get a bank loan which he had an “unreasonable expectation” of being granted, the court heard.

When she said she could not help, he hatched the plan to kidnap Bilbo last December.
Ms Lilly, 48, told the jury: “I don’t have children so Bilbo is my child really in a certain way.”

Callous Gabriel Radzikowski grabbed the 15-year-old pet from owner Sara Lilly’s garden after she failed to help him secure a bank loan.

She knew the caller demanding money was Radzikowski and called police. Then passerby Patricia Bentley saw Bilbo struggling in the pond. She rescued him and contacted Ms Lilly through her phone number on his collar.

Yesterday, Radzikowski was condemned for his “planned, calculated, cruel” crime as Judge Michael Longman jailed him for 24 months.

The judge said: “Your motive was financial and to get your own back. You did not feel the slightest regret or remorse for your actions.”
