Baltimore Opens City Curfew Center... Police spent hours trying to control a mob of teenagers at the Inner Harbor....


BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore City officials are collaborating to keep teens off the streets and out of trouble this summer. they’re announcing the opening of the City’s Curfew Center.

The center will stay open through the night and teens will be given something to eat while they wait for their parents. Counselors will be on-hand to talk with families.

Police spent hours trying to control a mob of teenagers at the Inner Harbor. As they worked to disperse the crowd, one teen was stabbed near the intersection of Gay and Fayette Streets.

Detroit does that on Devil's Night, Halloween and the night after, if it falls on a weekend. That way, they can issue a citation and make the parents come pick the kid up. Any kid who is still there in the morning either goes to the youth home or into foster care, depending on age and circumstances.

Detroit's is 9:00 for anyone under 16 on weekdays, 10:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. It's 10:00 for people who are 16 and 17 on weeknights, and 11:00 on weekends.


But as I tell my kids, no cop is going to ticket you at 10:05 if you are wearing a work uniform and are obviously on your way home.
