8 Foods to Avoid at All Costs

These foods pack on the pounds, zap energy, trigger inflammation, and crowd out the more nutritious foods in your diet. Do your best to banish these unhealthy foods from your diet or eat them on rare occasions only.

Stick Margarine
Most brands of stick margarine are loaded with trans fat the toxic fat that increases bad cholesterol (http://www.joybauer.com/high-cholesterol.aspx), lowers good cholesterol, promotes clotting, and damages blood vessels. And, at 100 calories per tablespoon, this heartbreaker isn't doing your waistline any good, either. As an alternative to stick margarine, you might use a "soft tub" variety of one of the reduced-calorie, trans-fat-free brands. Or, if you prefer the taste of butter, use a small amount of whipped butter sold in tubs (more air means less fat and calories).
Next: Soda (http://www.joybauer.com/photo-gallery/8-foods-to-avoid-at-all-costs/Soda.aspx)

Follow the link and see all the no-no's, from movie theater popcorn to hot dogs and soda. She gives good alternatives.

SR is saying NOOOOOO. She lists his favorite stuff. :D

The only one I'm "guilty" of to any extent is whole milk, which I have in a single cup of coffee in the morning, and on muesli about twice a week. I can live with that.

I HAVE to have movie theater popcorn when I go to the movies but that's about three or four times a year. I can live with that, too.

Right now I'd kill for about anything other than stinking jello. I'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow, so today it's clear broth, jello, popsickles, etc Ugh. I have to run to the grocery store to get different iced bars. I was trying to get something tasty and didn't notice that the fancy ice bars I got have pulp, so need to get the plain old crummy ones so I don't mess up the results. Not looking forward to drinking all that prep later today. I also have to set the alarm for 3:45am to take the second half of the prep. Double, triple :vomit:

Look at the bright side, you should be able to lose two or three pounds.

Out of those I only have whole milk, diet soda and bagels with any regularity, the rest I could live without (I love pizza but prefer thin crust).

I have to say she sounds smug and joyless and makes me want to dig into a deep crust pizza. :D

She's on NBC (Today show) as their dietician. She does look a bit joyless--you're very perceptive.

She's also skinny. I guess her advice works or she just has good genes. :p

Yeah, that comes later this afternoon. I'm having the endoscopy (upper) and colonoscopy (lower) tomorrow. Oh joy! I've been putting it off as had too much happening the last year with the move and SR's stroke. It's time as the guilt got to me and knew that I couldn't keep procrastinating.
