Hurricane Irene's Second Target Is New England

After being rattled by Tuesday's earthquake, the Northeast is bracing for another rare natural phenomenon--the first hurricane to make landfall in New England since 1991's Hurricane Bob....This week will definitely go down in history books as a wild one for natural events in the Northeast.

An earthquake rumbled on Tuesday, severe weather will threaten on Thursday, then Hurricane Irene will unleash its flooding rain and damaging winds this weekend.....The AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center is expecting Irene to strike southern New England during the late afternoon or evening hours of Sunday.

Irene should be a Category 1 hurricane at landfall, weaker than the powerful Category 4 status it should attain after leaving the Bahamas. Irene will then lose its tropical characteristics as it leaves New England by Monday morning......Residents and visitors, however, should still take Irene seriously. Irene will be the first landfalling hurricane to strike New England since Hurricane Bob came onshore in 1991.

I wonder if Obama will be out of Martha's Vinyard in case it hits. It might interrupt his golf. He's like a disaster----they follow him. At least he hasn't been making too many economic speeches on vacation so the week hasn't been too bad for the Dow Jones.
