View Full Version : Liberals vow to challenge Obama in Democratic primaries

President Obama’s smooth path to the Democratic nomination may have gotten rockier Monday, after a group of liberal leaders, including former presidential candidate Ralph Nader, announced plans to challenge the incumbent in primaries next year.

The group said the goal is to offer up a handful of candidates from various fields and areas where the president either has failed to stake out a “progressive” position or where he has “drifted toward the corporatist right.”

“Without debates by challengers inside the Democratic Party’s presidential primaries, the liberal/majoritarian agenda will be muted and ignored,” Mr. Nader said in a news release. “The one-man Democratic primaries will be dull, repetitive, and draining of both voter enthusiasm and real bright lines between the two parties that excite voters.” ... http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/sep/19/liberals-vow-challenge-obama-democratic-primaries/

Please do, it'll be so entertaining.

The only friend I have who voted for Nader in 2000 is black. She's not voting for him in 2012 unless Obama doesn't run.

Amazingly enough, that is exactly the way this collection of assorted fruits and nuts does see the world. Go figure.

No, it's that he's failing. The left cannot admit that its policies and agenda are the cause of our current problems, so they are pretending that Obama isn't a "true" leftist. We've seen this with Wei for the past several months now, but it's a common tactic. When the Soviet Union collapsed, I made it a point to walk past Revolution Books in NYC to see what their reaction was, and they had put a big banner in the window that said, "Phony communism is dead! Mao more than ever!" Whenever a leftist leader or state fails, the left immediately goes into damage control and spins the nature of the regime in order to pretend that it was never what it obviously was. The most successful example of this was Nazi Germany. The National Socialist Workers Party of Germany was a leftist party, but once they became rivals of the communists, Stalin ordered the COMINTERN not to use the full name of the party and to never refer to them as socialists. Instead, they pretended that fascism, a term coined by Mussolini, who was himself a socialist, was a reactionary movement, rather than a fellow traveling collectivist movement.

They're simply throwing Obama under the bus.

Interesting that Cornell West is in on this:

“We need to put strong Democratic pressure on President Obama in the name of poor and working people” said Cornel West, an author and professor at Princeton University. “His administration has tilted too much toward Wall Street, we need policies that empower Main Street.”

Wasn't Wall Street withholding money from Obama this campaign season? There was a thread about it somewhere.
