The conservative news magazine Newsmax announced Friday that it would co-sponsor a Republican presidential debate moderated by media personality and real estate tycoon Donald Trump on Dec. 27th in Des Moines, Ia., but they may have trouble convincing candidates to show up.This is getting ridiculous.

I will not vote for anyone that shows up. :D

I almost don't want to post the link (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/jon-huntsman-skip-presidential-debate-moderated-donald-trump-201000365.html)

I think it might be interesting. I certainly dont care for debates moderated by leftist newsperson impersonators. It might not be serious, but it at least might be vaguely entertaining.

I love The Donald! I think it will be great.
He will spark some good conversation,
if they can keep him from hogging the spotlight.

Newsmax sponsored debate moderated by Donald Trump.

It's been a while since I've seen a three ring circus.

I love him too. He is absolutely brilliant and can read a room like nobody else. I'm reading his book Think Big and Kick Ass.

He will bring a dimension to the debate that the ideological leftists can't.

I've read a couple of his books. I don't know why there's such a brouhaha over The Donald moderating. He is the American dream incarnate. The man was born into a family business, took it over and built it into an empire, then ran it into the ground with an overly lavish lifestyle and almost went broke, but was smart enough to turn it around and rebuild it into an even more successful global empire. All the while, he managed to raise 3 kids that turned out to be level headed awesome adults, compare how Ivanka turned out vs Paris Hilton. What's not to like about him? I would have given him serious thought if he had thrown his hat in ring. Here is a good look at The Donald's life over the years, it might surprise you:

I think the bruhaha relates more to his recent work as a reality television star than his backround as a real estate broker. Reality television=tabloids to a lot of people. And Trump has been a star in both.

The rug doesn't help, either. How can anyone take someone seriously who wears that bad of a hairpiece?

In The Apprentice, Trump shows up at the very end for a discussion of what the teams did right or wrong. Hardly a camera hogging performance. It's worthwhile to just watch him analyze the performances and decisions of the team.

He doesn't wear a toupee. It's a comb over. Compared to Nancy Pelosi's face lifts, Trump's hair is conservative.

Why is Trump any worse than the Liberal MSM idiots who "moderate" Republican debates?

Yeah Trump is an egotistical self promoter...buy at least he won't enter the debate with an agenda to destroy the candidates in the eyes of the people and help ensure Obama gets re-elected.

So again I aask why is Trump worse than Blitzer or Matthews or Sheaffer as a moderator for a GOP debate?

First of all..... he's basically stumping for Newt. That's a conflict of interest and second...

And anyone that's moderated a debate up to this time doesn't have a conflict of interest?

Blitzer...Juan Williams....Matthews...tell me those guys aren't "stumping" for a particular candidate.

It's about time our side stopped bending over and grabbing their ankles and beleiving that the only people that can host a debate for them is the establishment media.

Yes....but's it's their own call...

It's because Debates aren't controlled by independant nonpartisan organizations anymore.

Now it's the two major parties that are in control of the debates through the Commission on Debates. If they chose Blitzer and Matthews, then they are choosing the moderators. The DNC and RNC can pull their own strings.

The difference with Trump is he is trying to get an unscheduled debate for his own ego.....and he's looking like and ass.

This is a snide little comment beneath you.

Donald will do a better job than the libs with an agenda against the Republican candidates. If they opted out of any of the debates, it should have been the worst of the lib debates, but it's good practice for all the filth that will be thrown by the Dems.

I think there should be more objections to Obama campaigning all over the US on the taxpayers' dime. The dems should be paying those expenses.

Iowa caucus does not equal average Republican caucus voters.

Just watch the polls over the next month in Iowa ;)

By Newt being the only real frontrunner left to join teh Donald debate....he's making himself to look like more of an ass to Iowa Republican caucus voters.

Your talking about Donald Trump and him relating to ............ Iowa.

Everyone is going to watch Trump moderate a debate. They will all deny it, but they will be glued, even the democrats.

Donald Trump is America's little guilty pleasure. No one admits to liking him, but everyone is fascinated. They read his books, watch his television show and go to his appearances.

It's about exposure. Getting what you have to say out there to as many people as possible. Nothing could be better than a Trump debate.

Candidates go on the worst, most sleazy talk shows. The View is better than a Trump moderated debate? They go on SNL!

I may watch and I may not, it really matters little to me which candidate wins now.
When I go to the polls next November I will be voting for the Republican party establishment candidate, I will effectively be voting against the Democratic socialist opponent.
At the beginning of the year it looked like we had the chance for an actual conservative candidate, the kind the Tea-party had been hoping for. I was going to rejoin the Republican party so I could vote in the primaries, but that ship has sailed, the media will tell us who we are allowed to run once again.
The only presidential election where I have enthusiastically voted for a conservative individual was when I voted for Reagan, since then I have held my nose and voted for a Republican, it doesn't matter much which one it is.
The ha ha is on us!

Actually it would be Gingrich and Santorum.

I get the feeling Gingrich is kinda buddy buddy with Trump. So he could get some snowball questions.

Santorum on the other hand could finally get asked some, and get some real face time.

I doubt at this point the debate is on thou. Not enough showing, and too close to the Iowa 3rd caucus. No one wants to trip up that close and blow any chance at winning there.

I hope for Santorum's sake that it goes on. He deserves a look and the others have been ignoring him. Actually I think it could be a compelling watch. People are forgetting that Trump was getting traction.

If it goes on, Newt will have the opportunity to engage in a serious jeremiad. It would be one long Obama-bash without the interference of a serious moderator.

I think it could work politically for Gingrich in that he could articulate the rage found in a great many Republican voters.

There won't be anyone around to tell the people what they will do differently or highlight differences between them and Gingrich.

This is going to be one of the worst miscalculations the republican candidates can make. The big winner out of this will be Rick Santorum who has the most to gain.
