Mickey Mouse, Adolf Hitler Allowed On Wis. Recall Petitions

GAB Rules Address, Date More Important Than Names
December 14, 2011

MADISON, Wis. — The signatures of Mickey Mouse and Adolf Hitler will be counted on recall petitions targeting Gov. Scott Walker as long as they are properly dated and include a Wisconsin address, the board charged with reviewing the petitions was told Tuesday.

Suspicious signatures will be noted when the Government Accountability Board reviews the petitions, but reviewers will look to see that signatures are accompanied by a Wisconsin address and are dated as having been signed during the circulation period, board elections specialist David Buerger said.

"We will flag them, but we will not strike them without challenge," Buerger said after being asked whether Mickey Mouse’s signature would be counted. He noted that in previous recall petitions, Adolf Hitler’s name was struck because the address given was in Germany, not because of the name itself.

The board unanimously approved the board’s plan for reviewing the petitions.

Well, there was that one family who named their child Adolf Hitler, but CPS took little Adolf and that is probably not his name anymore.

Something (http://biggovernment.com/bhealy/2011/12/16/wis-election-official-belittles-gop-lawmakers-via-twitter/) I found this morning, via Instapundit;

[Madison, Wisc...] The same employee who admitted the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board would deem all recall signatures valid, even if they were signed Mickey Mouse or Adolf Hitler, has engaged in online activity that could lead some to question his impartiality.

David Buerger, an elections specialist with the GAB used his Twitter account to praise a blog postingwherein Republican State Senator Mary Lazich was called “Crazy Mary.”

“OMG! Headline winner…” Buerger tweeted last month, and then included a link to the blog post.

Just this week Buerger linked to a story about the two-year long investigation by the Democratic District Attorney in Milwaukee that may or may not involve the activities of Scott Walker’s Milwaukee County Executive staff.

“Ruh-roh… John Doe investigation on the move: ”

Last night, the Maciver Institute, whose twitter handle is @MacIverWisc, retweeted Buerger’s questionable missives. This brought an immediate reaction from the elections specialist.

Buerger, who uses the Twitter handle @buergd, later blocked the MacIver Institute fro accessing his twitter feed. READ MORE>>

Now, I will note that he does indicate in his twitter profile that, “My opinions are my own (not G.A.B. official).”

How reassuring.

Nah, this is all approved from the very top, as WI's liberal union hack Secretary of State, who is the top person in charge of elections, Doug LaFollette will see to it that every signature is counted as many times as it can be.

Somehow George Soros's efforts to get a Dem Sec. of St. elected in each state of the union was successful in WI. We elected a Rep. Assembly, Senate, and Governor, and somehow a Dem. Sec. of St. snuck in. Go figure. :(

there was a guy that scratched his name off a couple times and is facing a felony, yet shit like this and people signing multiple times (one guy has claimed that he did 80 TIMES!!!) aren't.

WI Legislature is moving to make both felony's

LaFollette has been Sec of State in WI since before I was born ('83), he didn't sneak in. People know the name, as the LaFollette's have a very long history in WI Politics. This crap might finally get the asshole out of WI politics though.

I can only hope. Because I sure did not vote for him in '10.

You do realize that it does not matter that you no longer live in WI; come on over and vote anyway. :p Be sure and bring along your old WI drivers' license 'cause I'm confident in Dane Co., it will not matter that it is expired - as long as it has your photo on it. Ha.

could probably do it even without my old WI DL (which I'm not sure where it is right now anyway)

A great many Americans never bother to change their name legally. They simply start using a different name. Usually it's women who have been married who choose to use the name of their husband or stop using the name of their ex-husband. No documentation was required at Megabank for changes of this kind.

As I understand the law, you can use any name you like as long as your purpose for using another name is not to commit fraud or evade prosecution.
