Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska will announce today that he is retiring after two terms, a serious blow to Democratic efforts to hold on to the majority in the chamber next November.

Nelson is scheduled to hold a press conference back home in Nebraska as early as today to make his decision official, said several Democratic insiders close to the leadership.

Good to see him going. He knows he's toast. His bribe hasn't sat well with his voters, and they are tasting blood. Nelson is getting out now while he can save face and will donate his $3 mil. war chest to the DNC coffers.

Its not a done deal, but we should win this state.

Good Riddance. He was never a real democrat in the first place. now hopefully we can get a real progressive elected to that senate seat.
