An AP article, check the link. It's frightening. There was a ban on elephant tusks in 1989. When I was a docent at the St Louis Zoo, we'd state that the elies would survive, as there was a moratorium on killing elephants for their tusks.
Enter the Asians, particularly Chinese, with their increased affluence. The elies and rhinos are going, going, perhaps gone way sooner than we thought. :eek:
