Aristus

When I was a tank crewman in the Army, other branches of the service used to call us

"dumb-ass tankers"

Some idiot on the M1 Abrams Tankers Facebook page sure isn't doing anything to refute the insult. He bellowing and blustering about "that socialist Muslim Obama". This doesn't make me ashamed to be a tanker; it makes me ashamed that he's a tanker! http://www.democraticunderground.com/emoticons/eyes.gif

So?

So?

So you get a lot of people that served for a couple three years sometime in the 80's that come on to sites like that and pontificate about illegal wars...Bu$hco and what a great job Obama is doing...yet when it came time to pu their ass on the line they either found a way to get a training billet and avoid it or they got out.

Yet there they sit like some kind of military expert.

I'm saying that this guy has a high probability of bing one of those idiots.

You know...like Bok.

It doesn't bother me, I had retarded tank crewmen from time to time. Somebody has to be Loader.

:D

"DumbAss Tanker" was an old nickname for tankers when I joined up in '75, it probably goes back to WW2 but it's not the kind of tidbit you find in history books. Maybe back in the day it wasn't worn as a badge of honor (Like the nickname 'Jumpin' junkies' for some of the airborne in the VN era), but throughout my time it was always a perverse badge of honor, like 'Yankee Doodle' in the Revolution/1812 era. In modern times we take it to mean focused on winning and too hard-headed to be turned aside by adversity.

I have strange feeling that if Aristus really was a tanker, at some point in his career as a crewman he would planned out how to surrender to enemy forces ( most likely had white flag hidden up his ass), get in touch with enemy media and give a really good anti-American speech on the enemy news network.

And most likely spent the rest of his time in the service thinking that he was officer material, and those in command were too stupid to see that.

What was that, again?Just disrespecting your military service AD. Don't sweat it though. Stuff like disrespecting the military and those that served is allowed on CU, isn't it? Or is not allowed? I keep forgetting.

You forget one tiny detail...I'm currently serving in the military. I can point to three combat zone deployments Somalia Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bok = zero.

And when you think it's bashing...I say it's a pretty accurate comparison.

By the way...what's your military background that gives YOU the right to try and do what you accuse me of?

The well doccumented history of your fellow Libtards at DU makes it highly likely.

Bok = zero. And you think that gives you the right to disrespect the service of someone that served honorably but not in a combat zone? If so, I imagine there's a few current and former military on CU that would disagree with you. And frankly, you owe them an apology.
By the way...what's your military background that gives YOU the right to try and do what you accuse me of?Totally irrelevant. I wasn't disrespecting your service with my post. I was pointing out that you were disrespecting the service of someone else.

And your question is implying that someone needs to have experienced something in order for them to have an opinion on it. If that's the case, let me ask you:

Have you ever run for elected office? If not, you need to stop commenting on politicians.
Have you ever been pregnant or given birth? If not, you need to stop criticizing women that have had abortions.
Have you ever had sex with a man? If not, you need to stop criticizing homosexuals.

See how ridiculous those examples sound? That's what you sound like.

The rules have all been revised since change of ownership, read them when you have time. You think I need to know what the current rules of CU are to see if it's acceptable to criticize someone's military service? I doubt that it's changed but I don't care if it's allowed now or not. I don't go there. I'm old school.

And for crying out loud, you really couldn't tell that my post, though sincere, was rhetorical? And that I needed to know what the rules are?

We don't know that the guy didn't serve, or failed to serve honorably. It doesn't matter. Military service isn't a guarantee of intelligence or insight. The armed forces have produced more than a few people who were superb at their jobs, but clueless when it came to politics or other areas of their lives. USMC General Smedley Butler was a prime example. He was a brilliant Marine and was one of the few men in American history to receive the Medal of Honor twice, but politically, he was a paranoid loon and communist who invented fantasies of military coups by rightwing cabals. That doesn't diminish his service. This DUmpster may have been the second coming of Audie Murphy, and if so, more power to him, but he's an idiot now. The DU OP demonstrates that while all tankers are DATs (Dumb-Ass Tankers), there are some who abuse the privilege beyond all recognition. (For the record, as an enlisted 19D, I used to call tankers DATs until the M1 came along, and they became C-DATs (Computerized Dumb-Ass Tankers), but it was done with affection, and when I went to Armor OBC after OCS, I had to become one myself.)

BTW, know how many DATs it takes to change a lightbulb?
Four: One to hold the bulb, one to traverse the turret, and two to ground guide. :D

I disrespected no one. Just made an observation.

You trying to say I disrespected anyone is as stupid and moronic as when you failed miserably to assert that I was an ass kisser to Gator.

[QUOTE]Have you ever run for elected office? If not, you need to stop commenting on politicians.

School board. And I won. Was the treasurer for a friends run at County Constable too.

Your point?

Have you ever been pregnant or given birth? If not, you need to stop criticizing women that have had abortions.

Been in the delivery room and at every OB/GYN appt. for four beautiful children.

Have you ever had sex with a man? If not, you need to stop criticizing homosexuals.

That was a man? She told me she was married to you!

See how ridiculous those examples sound? That's what you sound like.

The only thing around here that is ridiculous...actually pretty damn pathetic...is a so called Conservative using Libtard "gotcha" tactics...and failing as miserably as the Libtards to.

That kind of arrogant and ignorant bullshit might work on a clueless dimwit where you're from...but it doesn't work on people that have a brain.

I disrespected no one.You think that if someone served honorably but never heard a shot fired in anger, like you, that they somehow rate less favorably than you.

You disrespect their service.

As for the rest, well, sometimes you try and explain things in the simplest of terms but the simple still do not get it.
