For our anniversary, my wife got us new phones. Mine is a HTC Evo 4g, and I am blown away by this thing. However, browsing CU and other forums is a royal pain in the butt, pinching and sliding around. Anyone know of any good Android apps that help these issues, a browser that works better for forums, or some tricks and tips to make the experience easier?

I'm doing pretty good on battery, turned down the screen brightness, turned off the GPS, don't actually have 4G service out here to run the 4G antennae, and don't do too much heavy duty computing activities (right now), but I'll definitely look at that for some more help.

It is called the tapa talk app but we have to have SR activate it first on his end.

battery defender shuts all services except text and calls when ever the screen is locked. your phone will not lose any power in this mode.

You go to the market app on your phone search for Tapatalk, it costs three bucks but that ain't bad. There are hundreds of other forums.

As far as the skin goes on Tapatalk they have their own customizable skins, they aren't using Vbulletin skin.
I'm on my Ipad2, and I had forum last set to the pink skin. When I logged on it gave me a pop up to try the Tapatalk app for iPad. So I did. It's pretty cool. I think it was $2.99.

I was just about to tell you about it, I didn't realize until a few minutes ago that they had an HD version for iPad

Can you do screen shots?
Well I'm quite sure the IPad can do screen shots.
Whether or not I can do one and post it is another story.
But I'll give it a try.

It looks good, in your settings you can also change font size and color independently from the forums settings. You reach settings through menu.

It's telling me for only $4.99 more (on top of the $2.99 already spent)
that I can upgrade to the full HD version that looks like above with layered
panes. But after looking around I doubt I'll use it that much. I like the regular
Web version better on my iPad. I can see me using the Tapatalk version on
my iPhone though. I agree it's too hard to post on a phone from the regular
website. So I appreciate your telling us about this app Rock.

I check in from time to time on a Galaxy SII 4G. The default skin is much easier to read. I turn it sideways and size the text box to the screen so I only have to "slide" to read the names of the current poster.
As for battery, I use my phone full time (no land line) and while I don't watch You Tube all day, I do use the internet a lot and talk at will. I have never exhausted the battery before midnight. I charge it for 7 hours every night. Most of the people who complain about battery life seem to be younger people who play games and watch videos a lot.
The most annoying problem with webbing on the phone is accidentally touching the links, especially in a medical article or something where they feel the need to link to definitions and other pages for almost every word having more than five letters.

I have readers from 1.0 to , I think 4.0. I sometimes wear readers over my readers if I am having trouble with some fine work. I do a fair amount of sewing for my niece who needs costumes for her plays and Ren Faire, as well as needing to have manufactured clothing taken in and up as a petite. With those super readers I could put a thread between a gnat's thighs without touching the sides.
My readers are 2.00. I feel really OLD visiting in a forum of my
peers and the topic of the day is the strength of our readers. :blue:

Mine too; and I never get close to hitting it, but I am almost always in WIFI range. I gather that you are more rural and so tap into your 3G or 4G connection more than I do. Is that correct?

Yes the only Internet available is either satellite or cellular and both meter actual usage, when I go into town I have a wifi account with the local phone company that broadcasts throughout much of the town, it is unlimited so any large downloads I need are done in town.

I'll be darned, it was 3.50 when I got it. It is worth it on a phone with a small screen, but a regular browser should work fine on the iPad.
