I have lots of respect for his service, but like many liberals........being a veteran (a liberal one) means that a it's license to act however they want to and be excused form civil behavior by the rest of the liberal flock.

Chris Christie calls former Navy SEAL an ‘idiot’

Police in New Jersey escorted a former Navy SEAL from an event on Thursday after Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) called him an “idiot.”

During a town hall-style meeting in Florence Township, a 34-year-old law school student William Brown, a U.S. veteran of three deployments in Iraq, explained that he was upset that Christie was allowing Rutgers Camden to lose the “Rutgers” name when it merges with Rowan Unversity, according to The Star-Ledger.

and all morning here in Philly (since we cover their news), and every time I heard the story, I screamed at the radio.

The media enables these elected public officials to break all of society's accepted protocols of discourse and then whine about how "divisive" the country has become.
From the raw story article:

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/03/09/chris-christie-calls-former-navy-seal-an-idiot/

Although Christie pointed out that current students would still graduate under the Rutgers name, the former SEAL wasn’t satisfied.

“What about my son? What about my neighbors? What about my friends?” he shouted.

“Listen we’re not going to get into a debate here, ok?” Christie replied. “I sat here and listened to your story and your position — excuse me — without interrupting you.”

“It’s not a story, it’s the truth,” Brown shot back.

“Do you want to hear the answer or no? Do you want to hear me answer or don’t you? Because I’m not going to — I’ve heard you. OK, next question,” Christie said.

“Let me tell you something after you graduate from law school you conduct yourself like that in a courtroom, your rear end is going to be thrown in jail, idiot,” he added.

“I’m a combat veteran Navy SEAL, how’s that?” Brown yelled as police escorted him from the building.

Outside the event, Brown spoke to reporters, while a police officer menacingly stood behind him.

“I thought it was inappropriate,” he said. “I thought freedom of expression, I voiced myself. I was never any threat. I never said. I never said anything that was threatening. I was advocating for Rutgers Camden and for working families in south Jersey.”

“I thought he lost his cool,” the veteran remarked. “He was trying to shut me down… I thought he’s a bully sometimes and I don’t think that’s how a governor should react.”

Brown, a Democrat, lost his bid for the New Jersey State Assembly last year in the highly-Republican Burlington County district.

Maybe not knowing when you have lost is an asset when you're a SEAL. Other then that, it usually isn't an asset.

A 100-1 shot he is NOT a seal vet. Maybe veriseal needs to look into this guy.Precisely what I was thinking.

Lemme get this straight: the guy makes it through BUDS, which involves such fun, campy experiences as repeatedly lifiting a waterlogged telephone pole in a cadence over his head with ten or so of his best buddies, standing in freezing-ass water, as SEAL instructors shovel sand in their faces and shout insults at them through bullhorns, and he runs home to Mama crying about being called an "idiot?" I'm no expert on military matters, but that certainly doesn't sound like SEAL behavior to me.

Stunning. Are all of our fellow posters here confirmed to your satisfaction?

Stunning. Are all of our fellow posters here confirmed to your satisfaction?Absolutely not. I don't even know the military status of most of the folks here. But so far, I haven't seen anyone here jump up and say "I know X better than you because I was a Hupmobile mechanic second class in the Air Force ten years ago." That's a big difference.

Well fuckface....a TRUE navy seal NEVER says "I was a navy seal" like that.

There is always a bottom ten percent in any organization. Even the SEALS have a bottom ten percent. I too doubt his service, but it wouldn''t surprise me that he was one of those ten percenters that they pushed out the door.

http://www.linkedin.com/pub/william-brown/10/b63/945I am presuming that you have the miltary experience to know whether he's for real or not. As such, if the guy's legit, then the guy's legit, and I retract anything offensive that I may have said questioning his service.

Just because you were physically tough enough to be a SEAL, and served your country, doesn't mean you can't be a total dickhead. There really isn't any shortage of dickheads in the military, trust me, I certainly ran into plenty of them in 37 years of service.

Respect for a vet's honorable service is not the same thing as a free pass for behaving badly later, and it does not extend to respect for any random stupid idea or opinion that may pop into his or her pointy little head in civic life.

I'd like to find out what the people who served with this guy thought of him?

I was thinking the same thing. Why keep prefacing the story with that...former SEAL. If the guy is being a douche, he's a douche. At least at that moment.

I wonder if any of the DUmmies recall that before john kerry the Traitor ran for President, we (veterans and active military) were hated. Suddenly it became a love fest.

If the OP had happened before kerry the Traitor, nobody on DU would have posted a thing about it.

And, of course, they hate Christie because he doesn't take any BS from their side.
