Need suggestions on how to increase download speeds thereby decreasing download times of videos. I already have most non essential programs turned off. I am using Kickasstorrents with Limewire Pirate Edition to download the movies.

This is running on Windows7 64 bit edition with 8 gigs memory

increase your bandwith by calling your ISP (internet provider) and having them bump it up.

Do a download speed test of your internet connection.

it's entirely possible there is a problem that is causing your internet to lag, I had that issue with Comcast for almost a year.

Yep I use speedtest regularly. I'm on Clear wireless and my download speeds vary from a high of almost 10 gb to a low of 1.5. they have been known to throttle down users they deem using to much band with of their " unlimited bandwith " service. When that happens sometimes I call them up and threaten to cancel my service unless they release the bandwith. I do believe they need a call

Also consider resetting the modem and the router ... if you havent done it already. If youve never done it, one way is to unplug the power from both of them for a few (about 3-5 minutes is best) minutes, then plug them back in.

After that it sometimes helps to unplug (unscrew) the cable from the modem for a few minutes, then plug it back in.

Resetting these items once in a while can make a big diff sometimes.

"jiggle the cables" eh? ... hehe

I have a friend who has a portable AT&T satellite receiver. She is constantly losing the connection. More off, than on it would seem.

The unlimited wireless ISP's will throttle you back if they think you are using too much bandwidth, they may say they are unlimited but that is a lie. Some of them will even cancel you without warning(T-Mobile).

yeppers, that exactly what they did. I've been doing some serious downloading of Late. Got into a couple old series, The Legend of Seeker & The Vampire Diaries. Actually it's only while i'm downloading that things come to a crawl.

Yep. Sounds like you're just getting throttled.

You can always go with satellite, hundreds of dollars invested in equipment and they cut me off at 500 mb, they then offered me an upgrade for 200.00 more in equipment and 20.00 more per month , that resulted in them cutting me off at 300 mb per day, if you went over you had 3 days with no service. I dumped them.

I had T-Mobile unlimited wireless after the satellite. I got 60kbs download speeds when they had advertised 300kbs. They kept blocking me from going to CU and the firearms forum saying it was undesirable content,I kept going into my settings and unblocking them so they cancelled me with no notice saying my usage was to high on an unlimited account.
