A spokesman for Media Matters for America, which communicates directly with the White House in a weekly "strategy call," boasted in 2010 of President Obama's mistreatment of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a forum held by Al-Jazeera.

The Daily Caller has published a report linking Media Matters for America to the anti-American, anti-Israel news network Al-Jazeera, primarily through the work of author M.J. Rosenberg, who has come under fire from Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz for using antisemitic language and alleging that American Jews display greater loyalty to Israel than the United States. Jamie Weinstein writes:

Media Matters Action Network senior foreign policy fellow MJ Rosenberg’s column for the liberal organization regularly appears on Al-Jazeera’s website and, in 2010, Rosenberg represented Media Matters at a forum hosted by Al-Jazeera in Doha, Qatar where he praised the news outlet as “mainstream.”

Media Matters Action Network is part of the organization’s political arm.

According to two Daily Caller sources, the then-director general of Al-Jazeera, Wadah Khanfar, also visited Media Matters’ offices in Washington in 2010 and met with the organization’s two top leaders, David Brock and Eric Boehlert.

Representing Media Matters at the first Al-Jazeera “Unplugged” forum on social media at the Sheraton Hotel & Resort in Doha on May 22, 2010, Rosenberg explained that Khanfar invited him to the forum during a meeting in Washington earlier that year.

In his stunning speech at the forum, Rosenberg praised Al-Jazeera as a “mainstream network,” bashed Fox News, suggested that the U.S. government intentionally bombed an Al-Jazeera bureau and expressed unreserved joy that President Obama was treating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu so poorly.

Rosenberg expounded on the topic, claiming that the Obama Administration no longer considered America and Israel's relationship more special than with any other nation:

“When Netanyahu came to Washington, no president has ever treated an Israeli prime minister as coldly as Netanyahu was treated by Obama,” Rosenberg said, with obvious joy, to what was presumably a largely Arab audience.

“Suddenly Israel today is, even though it gets what it wants to a certain extent, Israel is treated as another country, a foreign country, which makes it no different than all the other foreign countries. That is what Obama is trying to do: take Israel away from being the 51st state and make it a foreign country like Lebanon or France or any normal foreign country.”

“He has done that,” Rosenberg added. “You know, he has sent the Arab world signals from day one of where his heart is.”

Rosenberg asserts that the President of the United States intentionally mistreated the Prime Minister of Israel to "send signals" to the Arab world. Since Rosenberg works for an organization that holds weekly "strategy calls" with the White House, it stands to reason that he may have been drawing upon insider information to make that claim.

B-b-b-but... Arroyo says that it's Israel that insults us! He says that not defering to Obama and allowing Iran to plot the sequel to the Holocaust makes them bad allies!

 Obama is "sending signals" while his actions have been to write blank checks to fund Israeli settlements and palestinian apartheid. Not to mention weapons and covert support.

but oh no...the "signals"

Palestinian apartheid? Does anyone with half a brain believe that drivel? The only impediment to peace there is Palestinian intransigence. They have been given all manner of concessions and not honored a single agreement.

I realize that the leftist narrative is that Israel is somehow an illegitimate state, but the narrative doesn't survive even a minimal review of the facts. Of course, facts and leftist narratives are almost always at odds.

The narrative doesn't even withstand this:

Shouldn't that be a burnt out light bulb then?

The fact of the matter is that the Obama administration has increased financial and military support for Israel. Not to mention symbolic actions like consistently voting with Israel in the UN and using Veto power against the UN bid for Palestinian statehood (which was supported by almost the entire world at the UN).

Right-wing media desperately wants to believe that Obama is anti-Israel so they obsess over frivolities, but the facts of the matter, the actions of this administration prove otherwise. Military, financial, and international political support has all increased in this administration.

Your statement is patently false. Since taking office, Obama has refused to approve sales of arms to Israel, while approving increasing volumes of advanced weapons sales to Islamic states. From JINSA (http://www.jinsa.org/jinsa-reports/qme-part-ii-us-arms-sales-arabs-and-help-israel):

The Obama Administration, however, has announced major new sales to the Arab states, including Egypt. Egypt will receive four batteries (20 missiles) of advanced Harpoon Block II anti-ship cruise missiles-capable of overcoming the countermeasures and electronic warfare suites generally available for defense-along with four fast missile boats, 450 Hellfire antitank missiles usually launched from Apache attack helicopters-12 of which the Obama Administration sold to Egypt during the summer (see below), 156 jet engines for F-16 jets to follow the October sale of 24 F-16 C/D fighter aircraft equipped with advanced electronic warfare suites.

Saudi Arabia will get 2,742 TOW-2 antitank missiles. Ha'aretz reports that Jordan will receive 1,808 night vision-equipped Javelin antitank missiles with 162 launchers capable of penetrating the most modern tanks. These are in addition to the September deal for more than 80 advanced rocket launchers of types that have been sold to Israel in the past. The UAE will get 1,600 laser-guided "smart" bombs, 800 one-ton bombs, and 400 bunker buster bombs. Morocco has contracted for 24 F-16s.

So, what's the problem if Israel doesn't consider those countries to be immediate threats? The problem is that the increased sales come at the same time U.S. policy has shifted from support for Israel's right of self-defense to support for a new "peace process" aimed at settling borders to provide for a Palestinian state Secretary of State Clinton told the Qatari Prime Minister the Palestinians "deserve." Changing Israel's local security paradigm at the same time as increased sales to the neighbors-and no new sales to Israel-means the balance is pushed further out-of-whack.

Indeed, Israel's request for six AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopters was blocked by the Obama Administration in June-the same time the Egyptian sale was approved. U.S. sources reported that the request was undergoing an "interagency review to determine whether additional Longbow helicopters would threaten Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip." "During the recent war, Israel made considerable use of the Longbow, and there were high civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip," a source close to the administration was reported to have said.

So Hamas paid no American price for its assault on the people of Israel, but Israel's defense was subject to U.S. "review."

In addition, the Palestinian bid for statehood violated their agreements with the US and Israel.

The Oslo Accords established a clear mechanism for the resolution of disputes between Israel and the Palestinians. In the September 13, 1993 Declaration of Principles (DOP), Israel and the PLO agreed to establish a Joint Israeli-Palestinian Liaison Committee “in order to deal with issues requiring coordination, other issues of common interest, and disputes” (Article X). The accord stipulates that any disputes which the parties are unable to overcome in the Committee, “may be resolved by a mechanism of conciliation to be agreed upon by the parties” (Article XV).

The Interim Agreement (“Oslo 2″) signed on September 28, 1995, requires the two sides to resolve their disputes directly and, failing to do so, they may resort to other frameworks only via a mutually agreed upon mechanism.
Article XXI, entitled “Settlement of Differences and Disputes”, states, “Any difference relating to the application of this Agreement shall be referred to the appropriate coordination and cooperation mechanism established under this Agreement.”

Thus, the Oslo Accords clearly and explicitly obligate Israel and the Palestinians to resolve disputes directly on a bilateral basis. The accords do provide for the resolution of disputes via arbitration, but this may take place only by mutual consent and not via unilateral measures taken by one side (Article XXI (3)).

The accords also require Israel and the Palestinians to resolve all final status issues only via direct negotiations.

Petitioning the UN, a third party, for statehood, violates the accords, but that is hardly the most egregious violation that the Palestinians have committed. In fact, they have as yet to meet a single one of their obligations under the Oslo Accords, even though most of their actions were symbolic (such as removing the language calling for Israel's destruction from the PLO charter, or not inciting violence against Israel).

Of course, this is typical of leftist thought, in that you accept all Palestinian/Arab claims at face value, without any regard for the facts, and regurgitate their narrative. Why, for example, can the Palestinians demand a "right of return" to a nation that they left in order to permit their fellow Arabs to have a free hand to obliterate it, but no Jew can be permitted to live within the PA's jurisdiction, even in areas that have had Jewish majorities since Iron Age? The last time that a state demanded the right to make itself Judenrein, the results were the murder of six-million Jews. Today, Iran not only denies that this occurred, but in the same breath, says that it wants to complete the job. Your propaganda doesn't hide the fact that when a second Holocaust is launched, you will be on the side of the aggressors.
