“There are numerous symbols and subtleties in this painting, and I’m not ready to reveal all of them,” McNaughton said.

This sentence caught my eye, and intrigued me.

Most people just see the obvious in a work of art, but they should also look at the shape and size of the unpainted/unsculpted areas. They too have meaning through the eyes of the artist.

Okay, with this in mind, I looked into the flames, the obvious point of the painting ... set my zoom level to 500 ... saw nothing to begin with, and suddenly something jumped out at me.

Look closely at the very bottom of the flames, the 4th. one from the left. To me it looks like a human arm. A left arm of a slightly built person.

Anyone else see this?

Would be very interested to know if anyone else has studied the painting, and if so ... what did you see?

Janice ...

I put this in Gen. Discussion section so that I would not interrupt the heated conversation (which I am following) going on in the Political News forum that you started over there! :smile-new:

Thanks ABC. :smile-new:

I was lookin in the area that you mentioned (at 500x mag) but it sort of reminds me of looking at a cloud formation beneath the flames. Kinda hard to make anything out for me.
