Access to the Obama White House is in direct correlation to the amount of money donated to the president’s reelection effort and the Democratic party, the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/15/us/politics/white-house-doors-open-for-big-donors.html?pagewanted=all?src=tp) reports today.

The Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/15/us/politics/white-house-doors-open-for-big-donors.html?pagewanted=all?src=tp) reports: “those who donated the most to Mr. Obama and the Democratic Party since he started running for president were far more likely to visit the White House than others. Among donors who gave $30,000 or less, about 20 percentvisited the White House, according to a New York Times analysis that matched names in the visitor logs with donor records. But among those who donated $100,000 or more, the figure rises to about 75 percent. Approximately two-thirds of the president’s top fund-raisers in the 2008 campaign visited the White House at least once, some of them numerous times.”

But the most explosive allegation in the news story comes from former Democratic congressman Patrick Kennedy, son of the late Ted Kenney, who calls what the Obama White House is doing “quid pro quo.”

So I was thinking about this, and thought I'd follow the money. Unlike most of the mainstream media, the NYT isn't owned by a big conglomerate like GE or Westinghouse (I mean, it's obvious what NBC's agenda is... keep GE paying negative taxes). NYT does however own a 7% stake in Fenway Sports Group, which in turns own a number of teams and ventures. It's a sports investment company.

So what's the connection between Obama and baseball?

Well... according to the 'ol internet, Obama's DoJ has vigorously gone after anti-trust cases, and baseball just happens to have an anti-trust exemption. Major league baseball operates as a monopoly. Obama's anti-trust policies are hurting the NYT's investments. Anyway, that's my theory.
