He certainly will be missed.
Reading through the bio, I found several things I did not know.....

"No Time For Sergeants" was one of the best ever made. Recently our home town theater did it, and I noticed that the actors had watched the movie and copied Andy's delivery..:adoration:

Andy. I guess he wouldn't mind if we called him that.:smile-new:

I love when he refers to the refs as convicts.

Sad day. Good tribute

Andy sings the lyrics to his theme song:

"Let me rot away like some ol' high line pole..."

My preference but the family won't allow it unless I outlive them all.

I'm so proud of this group. Everyone was sincere in missing Andy. BTW, RIP Andy.

There's a local conservative radio talk show host, think he's going national, named Todd Schnitt who has the Schnitt Show. Whenever he's on, I turn him off. He was really pushing for Romney during the primaries, literally yelling at callers who didn't agree with him.

Back to Andy, Schnitt announced Andy's death with the comment that he enjoyed Andy, but really strongly disagreed with Andy making the announcements that backed Obama on healthcare, pitching to the seniors. He kept it up and kept it up---and I turned it off again. There's a time and place for everything, and this guy was beating the proverbial dead horse.

At his age embalming was probably unnecessary.

I saw Andy and spoke with him for a few moments at a food store in Nags Head a few years ago. He looked very frail then and was in one of those motorized shopping carts. I did not take up much of his time because he is known around here for having a foul temper but he was very pleasant and had that great smile.

Free Republic had some truly nasty comments to make, so DU is hardly alone in making ungracious comments about the recently departed if they disagree with them politically. :apologetic:

Don't know why DU would have anything to say bad about him. He was on their side.

I always liked Andy (RIP) but he became a flaming lib in the end and an Obama shill.

No, I was equating Free Republic's nasty comments with the ones DU makes when a "political enemy" dies. Classless on either side.
