Somebody needs to run that as a campaign ad. When Dinkins was running for reelection, Bill Clinton tried to campaign for him, and all but accused whites of racism for opposing his second term. This really offended the white liberals who'd voted for him the first time, but then regretted it when the city went into freefall. It was a massive tactical error that cost Dinkins the election. The critical message that a lot of people on the fence need to hear is that it's okay to hold a black candidate to the same standards as a white one.
