Turn your monitor off, go get some sleep. It was a long day, we're all dissapointed with the outcome.

But we need to remember something. The sun will rise in the morning. Your life will still be moving along. The Founding Fathers gave us a tool to exact change in our country. We just used it. In two years we will use it again, and two years following that again. Sometimes the tool will work for us, sometimes it will not. Whatever happens because of it, we cannot control. We can just live with it as best we can.

So everyone should take a deep breath, let it out, and just go on remembering that life is not all about what happens in Washington DC. Sure, things may change for the worse, but you did what you could, now it's best to just accept it and continue on with life, and wait for that next chance to get those tools out again.

Or you can continue to be angry, hate the world, wail impotently, and gnash your teeth.

Do what you want, but I for one am just going to accept the situation we're in and continue on with my life. I feel I'll be much happier that way.

No. This election showed me that there is no hope for the future. What was America is now a footnote in history. America, like the rest of the world, is now going to be a neo-socialist country where the moochers get to vote how the producers' income gets to be divided. All is lost. We might as well get used to it. If you're a producer, your taxes are about to go up to about 50% at best. Then higher. Welcome to England, American style.

That may be, but what's the alternative? Violence?

Whatever man has made, man can unmake. Not saying its called for now but the civil war was something different then what is needed now.

The military will feel it worse than some...we're looking at paltry .5% raises...increases in tricare rates and reductions in readiness and training...on top of it...overseas we're paying almost a $1 more than the states per gallon for gas...in addition to all of the tax increases coming our way on 1 January.

Well I hope a few days will allow people to calm down. I'd really hate to see this place become an actual mirror of DU.

I don't think that will happen. Too many people here have already seemed pretty restrained and have made some thoughtful posts about it. Can you imagine the heads splodin' over there if it had gone the other way?

If I was you I would be spending my extra extra time looking at possible ways to make a living rather than your condescending preaching at people on CU.
When Obama finishes with the military there won't be near the number of troops we have now.

I'll get by just fine. Thanks for your concern though.

I don't see what he said a condesending preaching. I see it as a warning that we may become that which we abhor.

On a side note, I'm just going to trust that God, as usual, knows what is going on and everything his happening exactly the way He intends it to. Reading the story of Joesph gives me comfort. I would hope that I could have just an iota of the trust he had for the actions of our creator.

Even an empire in decline needs its centurions. Assuming that Obama doesn't decide to purge the armed forces of those of us who aren't ideologically simpatico, and sequestration doesn't put us all out in the streets, I'll survive to the end of his term, and by then, the food and gas riots should keep me well-employed in homeland security missions.

I can only refer you to a recruiter. And that's if Obama doesn't cut our end strength.

However, in the spirit of the OP, there's this:
