The Pentagon says the top American commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Allen, is is under investigation for alleged "inappropriate" e-mail communications, and a senior defense official says there is a "distinct possibility" the matter is connected with the FBI investigation that led to the resignation of former CIA director David Petraeus.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said in a written statement issued to reporters aboard his aircraft early Tuesday that the FBI referred the matter to the Pentagon on Sunday, and that he ordered a Pentagon investigation of Allen on Monday.

The defense official confirmed the investigation was due to allegations of inappropriate emails between Allen and Jill Kelley, a close friend of the Petraeus family who reportedly led the FBI to investigate communications between Petraeus and his biographer Paula Broadwell.

The FBI then discovered Petraeus and Broadwell had engaged in an extramarital affair, which led Petraeus to resign as director of the CIA on Nov. 9.

Our top spy can't even keep his extramarital affair a secret.

It's interesting that the White House was not ready to release any of this information until after the election.

Seems like the military under Obama has become something akin to the 'Love Boat'. Looks like they took a broad view of the removal of DADT.

Had the same problems under Clinton too.

Had the same problems under Clinton too.

As a mere sales rep to the feds, I saw this happening under Clinton. Too many military bailed to get jobs in the civilian workplace.

How many coincidences can exist? I wonder if those who voted for him have a clue what's happening? Among people who are aware, it seems like a black cloud is covering this country. I'm hoping there's pushback and that the administration is held accountable.

Even last night Greta Van Susterin advised a congressional guest to start issuing subpoenas to get people like Hillary and Patreus to appear before the committees to get to the bottom of this. The woman guest thanked her.

It's like I'm almost afraid to turn on the news or look at what's breaking over the internet.

Jill Kelley, the woman who received anonymous emails which were traced to Paula Broadwell, has opened a Pandora's box of bad news.
She appears to be a social power broker and a bit of a hustler herself. She knows waaay to many generals and officials for someone working in a non-paid position as "social liaison".

Check this out:

The Wall Street Journal reports that the FBI agent who initially launched the investigation that led to the downfall of the former CIA director was removed from the case when the bureau became concerned that he was "obsessed with the matter."

The agent, who wasn't named in the Journal report, was reportedly friends with Jill Kelley, the Florida acquaintance of Petraeus who allegedly received threatening emails from his mistress and biographer, Paula Broadwell. The contents of the emails are said to have suggested that Broadwell "was suspicious of Ms. Kelley's attention to Mr. Petraeus."
So Jill receives these emails; goes to her friend the FBI guy, who himself becomes "obsessed" (Whut th' heck?!); uncovers emails from yet another general. Then the FBI guy is found to have sent shirtless photos of himself to Jill. We don't know what Jill sent him. And on, and on. And on.

Now we're hearing that this other general (not Patraeus) has sent thousands of pages of email to Jill!

It's going to be a mess. Power player Jill has irritated left-out Paula, and when Jill complained to her FBI contact, Jill inadvertently unraveled her own life.
Yesterday we were reading about General and Mrs. Petraeus arriving at Jill's place for a party with a 28 cop escort. Today, I'm betting that Jill couldn't find 28 people to attend her party.

FBI is now at Broadwell's house and soon they will be at Jill's place. Already been in Petraeus' email box.

Jealousy. It'll get ya!:evil-grin:

I saw a photo of Jill, she looks like a Kardashian. Are we sure this isn't the plot of a reality TV series that accidentally got confused with real news?

Apparently so.

I know one thing: These people are all a lot better typist than I am. Thousand of pages of email? If they had jobs in the private sector they wouldn't have time to send all that stuff.
