You can take it as a cue that it means that they're about to start being an asshole.

Whenever I hear someone describe them self as a liberal I assume that everything they said previous to the admission was a lie.

As a rule, I think a major tell on anyone is when he says, "I'm all for (insert some civil right here) , but...." Beyond that, most political labels are rather meaningless especially when applied by a hostile party.

He's probably being ignored as of late. I guess he hasn't had his ego padded in a while, had to start a thread that would earn him some guffaws.
