It's that time of year again at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. I have been going through the list and trying to find some good charities. Any ideas from our military personnel?

*I figured this would go here or in the Military Forum*

I've been donating to the Air Force Aid Society the last couple of years. Last time I did the CFC I picked 4 organizations. I made sure one was going to help Israeli's, just cause I knew it would piss off a certain member who no longer posts here. I found an outlandish one, I believe they trained monkeys for menial tasks. I then picked two general ones that sounded like good stuffs.

The key to picking them is finding ones that have low overheads. There are some in that list that have ridiculous overheads, where maybe only half of your money is actually going to the charity.

This is my third time through. I tend to do the same. Except I keep my money in America as best I can. (Sorry, Israel) I was thinking of the 1 Way out of Pornography charity...

There is no wrong charity to donate to, as long as it's one that is actually putting your money to use. Just find ones that you feel most comfortable with.

I was looking for some suggestions outside of the usual ones. I already donate to the USO, Wounded Warrior Project, and IAVA

Never the Red Cross; excessive overhead.

Always the Salvation Army.

I went with St. Jude and a program that helps rehabilitate retired MWDs for injured Veterans.
