Teen Admits to Stabbing 22-Year-Old Man to Death Because He ‘Had a Hard Day’ and ‘Wanted to Kill the First Person He Saw’ Aug. 30, 2013 10:30pm Jason Howerton (http://www.theblaze.com/author/jason-howerton/)

Police in Clearwater, Fla., on Thursday announced the arrest of a 16-year-old suspected of stabbing a man to death because he “had a hard day” and “just wanted to kill the first person he saw,” WFTS-TV reports (http://www.abcactionnews.com/dpp/news/region_north_pinellas/clearwater/clearwater-police-announce-arrest-in-jason-pauls-murder).
Mychal King admitted to killing 22-year-old Jason Taylor Paul for no reason on the night of January 6, according to police (http://www.abcactionnews.com/dpp/news/region_north_pinellas/clearwater/clearwater-police-announce-arrest-in-jason-pauls-murder). Paul was stabbed multiple times while riding his bike home from work.
Clearwater police Chief Anthony Holloway said there was no robbery (http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/crime/16-year-old-will-be-charged-with-murder-in-clearwater-stabbing/2138948) and no drugs involved in the incident. “This was a very senseless crime,” he added.

Paul’s mother, Renee Langfritz, described her son’s killer as a “coward.”
“This coward, truly a coward, who would leave a young innocent man to die alone in the dark in the middle of the street, must be caught,” she said (http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/crime/16-year-old-will-be-charged-with-murder-in-clearwater-stabbing/2138948) prior to King’s arrest.
Police will charge King, who reportedly has a lengthy criminal history, with first degree murder.

They call them teens up to 20 and beyond, maybe I'm wrong but I used to think teen ended when you legally reached the age of adult.

More pertinent information:

King confessed to killing Paul, Holloway said. He told detectives that on Jan. 5, he had argued with his parents and left his home with a knife in his hand. He spotted Paul as he turned left on his bike onto Glenwood Avenue. King confronted Paul and stabbed him, police said.

"This was a very senseless crime," Holloway said.

King has a lengthy criminal record and has been arrested this year on several charges, including aggravated battery, cocaine possession and vehicle theft. Because he is a juvenile, police would not disclose Thursday why he is currently in jail.

After working two part-time jobs, Paul had been hired full time as a sales representative at TigerDirect. He wanted to be a veterinary technician. He lived with his 60-pound boxer mix, Marley. His girlfriend was going to move in soon.

"They were all excited," Langfritz said. "They were planning how they were going to decorate their yard for the summer."

Marley misses him, Langfritz said. The dog often lies on the floor next to the shelf displaying Paul's urn.

A few observations:

Paul was a hard-working young man who was making something of himself. His murder by a useless thug is not just tragic, but obscene.

King had been arrested multiple times in the last year for violent felonies, grand theft auto and drug possession. Why was he not in jail? Why was this punk free to murder someone who had never done him any harm? You'd think that after the second arrest, they'd have put him in custody, if for no other reason than to prevent exactly what happened here.

Because of his skin color. Obama doesn't want blacks incarcerated. It isn't fair.

I'll bet it's more about a juvenile diversion program and budget-cutting than it is about race.

The county (Wayne-the other counties weren't greedy/stupid enough to take the block grant exchange proposed by previous Gov. Engler in the late 90s) here has tried doing that for the past decade or so, and has failed miserably. I've always said that one high-profile murder by a teen who should have been locked up, and the country would be begging us (the state) to take the program back. That's happened and gone-now we are waiting for the county to go bankrupt, which is coming soon. Then I can leave foster care and finish my career in the delinquency program.
