Ashley Cotner of the Neal Hamil Agency wears Louis Vuitton runway shoes and Chanel's stretch zipper-leg pants, $3,850, Neiman Marcus.

Skyscraper shoes Fall's sky-high stilettos and killer double platforms bring to mind the title of the 1944 film, Wing and a Prayer.

You'll probably need both to strut even small steps without wobbling. This season, shoes go to extremes — and wearing them with attitude is a must.

Collections showcase an amalgam of fashion eras — from platforms of the '50s to neo-retro futuristic looks of the '60s. Elevated heels with cricks and turns, odd embellishments and peculiar hardware aren't just shoes, they're wearable architecture.

Designer Miuccia Prada is at the top of fashion conversation with her artistic collection for Miu Miu. Her pumps, peep-toes and sandals look as if they've ingested steroids and could be used as swim flippers. Among the standouts is a much-published yellow and black Mary Jane-esque shoe with a protruding heel reminiscent of a flower in bloom.

Other extreme varieties include Dior's red suede pump with an angular crystal heel, Louis Vuitton's mega-platform gray leather boots and patent black-and-gray spectator pump — which looks perfect for Elton John — and strappy gold gladiator sandals by Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy.
