A prominent NAACP official recognized Martin Luther King Day by labeling black senator Tim Scott a puppet for the Republican party. “A ventriloquist can always find a good dummy,” said Reverend William Barber II, the president of North Carolina’s NAACP chapter.
The State reports that (http://www.thestate.com/2014/01/19/3216854/in-fiery-pre-mlk-day-speech-nc.html) Barber’s remarks came in a speech in Scott’s home state of South Carolina. “The extreme right wing down here,” he said, “finds a black guy to be senator and claims he’s the first black senator since Reconstruction and then he goes to Washington, D.C., and articulates the agenda of the Tea Party.”
Last year, Barber gained national attention leading the “Moral Monday” protests in opposition to North Carolina’s Republican governor, Pat McCrory.

Anybody's lips moving in the crowd next to him when he said that...?

We're not allowed. If we dare stand up and speak out against rhetoric like this we're labeled racists. The sad thing is that these people are too stupid to realize that Johnson brought them back to the plantation and now the Democratic party, race leaders, and even their own president are standing on their heads keeping them there.

According to NY Governor Cuomo, there's no place in his state for conservatives, so apparently, we don't get to say "enough", we just have to either submit or run.

NAACP Stands By Calling Tim Scott a Ventriloquist’s ‘Dummy’
http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/369161/naacp-stands-calling-tim-scott-ventriloquists-dummy-andrew-johnson

The NAACP isn’t apologizing to Tim Scott for calling him a puppet. In a statement, it argued that the label reflected that Scott, one of the Senate’s two black members, hasn’t honored the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. because he’s been “echoing the position of the far right.”

The organization was defending comments by one of its most prominent officials, North Carolina NAACP president William Barber II, who had called South Carolina’s junior senator a ventriloquist’s “dummy” for the GOP.

“Dr. King emphasized love and justice rather than extremism. Unless we stand for justice we cannot claim allegiance to or pay homage to Dr. King,” the NAACP said in a statement to Fox News. “In a state such as South Carolina, politicians, whether they be black or white, should not be echoing the position of the far right.”

NAACP leader unapologetic after calling black GOP senator a puppet

The Rev. William Barber, the president of the NAACP in North Carolina, isn’t backing off his comparison between Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and a ventriloquist’s dummy.

In another public appearance Wednesday, Barber downplayed criticism of his suggestion that Scott, the lone black Republican in Congress, is a puppet for the tea party.

“The question is not so much having all this indignation over a metaphor,” Barber said, according to the Asheville Citizen-Times. “The issue is not the problem with the metaphor. What people should have righteous indignation over is the pain and the misery that is being caused by extremist politics.”

Barber said Sunday in a speech in Columbia, S.C., that Scott has been hijacked by the right wing.

Barber said “the extreme right wing down here finds a black guy to be senator and claims he’s the first black senator since Reconstruction, and then he goes to Washington, D.C., and articulates the agenda of the tea party.”

The comment has incensed Republicans in both Carolinas. Those Republicans have urged Democrats to denounce Barber, who is an growing voice against the GOP leadership in North Carolina.

Tim Scott is a hundred times the man his critics are; maybe they should be checking who's got their hand up their ass for a change.
