Actually, that pastel grey and blue skin on conservativecave is good, really good.

That's the one bitch--the one and only complaint--I have about conservativeunderground.

When one first comes here, black and bright red blare at one, shattering the eyeballs.

It's not a good introduction, and those times I've lurked here, generally I just read one or two comments and then went away. That black and bright red are a real trial for the eyeballs, and it needs pointed out I have, allegedly, "excellent" eyes. (Professional opinions.)

It's just not good, black and bright red.

Unless SarasotaRepub has an ulterior motive of ruining lurking primitives' eyes, in which case it's okay, I withdraw my objection.

Now, when one logs in, one gets the colors of one's choice. But when one first comes here and is confronted with that.....

Agree about the black and red default color scheme and the light blue color scheme. The latter is readable and generally easy on the eyes. The black and red scheme has a cool look overall but is terrible for readability. A point of information, I use Firefox and Opera on my computer. I'm transitioning from Ff to Opera. When I'm logged in both display CU in the light blue color scheme I've set up. I also use a first generation Galaxy Tab. Its browser displays CU in the black and red scheme even when I'm logged in. I'm not a SW techie and don't know why it does that (and wouldn't demand that CU's techies make changes), but I suggest looking into considering popular Android and iOS devices for browser compatibility checks. Samsung's Galaxy series smart phones and tablets are fairly popular right now (and while iPhone is the single best selling smart phone, I believe Android smart phones outsell iOS smart phones).

Hey Frank, although I like the bright red skin on default I can see where some might not
and I've changed it to the more sedate ClassicGrey.

And as noted, you can update it later to whatever pleases your eyes!!

Okay, I logged off to see what it'd look like if one's only lurking.

Much better, but I hope you didn't go through the time and trouble just because I complained.

But thanks!

For whatever reason, I still see CU in B&R on my Galaxy Tab. Must be something to do with its browser app.

I have the same experience with my tablet running KK 4.4.2 and Chrome for Android. I can change the setting but it reverts on every page.

Makes the tablet unusable for CU. (this is from the laptop)

I was less than clear when I posted my comment at ~9:11AM PDT. It was from my tablet and I am using it for this post as well. It's a 10.1", and a 7" might be less readable.

I haven't. This is one of three forums on which I post that use vBulletin but is the only one whose color scheme affects readability for me. It's barely annoying, so I don't know that I'll check out tapatalk. Yet anyway.

They have a free version that really works quite well. very easy to read and navigate and uses less bandwidth than a standard browser. It is uneffected by vbulliten skins and has it's own skin.

This is what I see, not logged in (it's an improvement over the former black and bright red):

That's the skin I chose to use, it's the easiest on the eyes.

Have you tried the pink? Rock donated that skin to the board, as he found it was the easiest on the eyes and easier to read when posting outside.

I've been having problems with my eyes, and I've been using it a lot. The colors are softer. It's not a girly pink.

I checked it out. Thanks, but I'll stick with the pale blue gray one. :)

Same here Frank. Dark skins strain my eyes for some reason but when in Rome and all that. I'm just thankful for the nice folks at CU that are letting us hot bunk here, so to speak, until CC gets back up.

Thanks CU folks! Love ya, mean it!!! :loveu:

Thanks so much, truly appreciate it. We've been trying to be good hosts and friends, but I guess we can't satisfy everyone but we try.

Try the dark fluid pink --check out the bottom left drop down menu. It brings up a nice soft greyish blue that's easy on the eyes. I've been having problems with the dark one myself as having eye problems and needing eye surgery Monday. Glad to see you here, stick around a bit after the Cave comes back up. :smile-new:

The dark one with red letters gives me a headache. I switched to the pink and it is much better.

I actually like the black & red the best, but I've been having some eye problems lately due to time in the sun so I've switched to something that is white and blue.
