I mean a lot of them come from humble beginnings like Senator Obama did. They weren't all born Paris Hilton rich. They should have an understanding of just how bad things are right now because of GOP rule. Following it every day, you think that they'd be terrified at the breathtaking declines on the Dow. You think that they would remember the 5,000 young american men and women who died in Iraq for unjust cause. Sure Roger Ailes, Tom Brokaw and the execs at the top of Time Warner/ABC-Disney could care less but you would think that the reporters would be different. Any ideas why? What really bothers me is that I've watched 4 presidential campaigns now and they've been harder on Senator Obama, in my opinion, than any presidential candidate in the last 4. Maybe it's racism? Terrified of seeing an AA in the White House? I think back to President Clinton. I think the media was tough on him sure but they pushed hard during impeachment that the GOP was just doing it in a power grab and that no high crimes and misdemeanors really took place. Their coverage probably led to the Democratic congressional gains that year which led to the downfall of the speaker of the house. And, in 2006, with Foley, Bob Woodward's state of denial book and the Iraq war, the media provided very favorable coverage of the democrats trying to take back congress.

But, this year, they've been going 24/7 at each opportunity to smear Obama and are doing all that they can to destroy him (especially now). What I would like to know is why. It's ridiculous. They've treated him more unfairly than any democratic nominee since Dukaksis and yes that includes Gore and Kerry IMO.

I'm so mad right now.

4. And yet in spite of this relentless assault....
...Senators Obama and Biden are going to crush Prick/Pornstar, that and a bullet-proof Congress will ensure humility in the chattering class.

And the first thing that the new President and Congress will enact will be the Fairness Doctrine, which will effectively muzzle the hate-mongers.

5. I honestly think they want this election to APPEAR CLOSE so they
can keep their viewership. If it looked like a blowout, lots of people would lose interest.

12. They do it for the paycheck. Each morning, there is a meeting with the producers
who give the talking heads their talking points. They sleep at night, because they pay their bills on time, and have little empathy. To some extent, they may live in a bubble, and being conservative seems to be in vogue in their ranks. How far left do you have to be to think the media is "conservative".

I guess it's the same as those who say that Obama is "centrist".

How far left do you have to be to think the media is "conservative".Ha. :D

When you get that far to the left the oxygen gets a bit thin. I can understand their delusion.

Sure, individual journalistsmay lean left, but what gets broadcast is the result of editorial decisions that come from high above those that write or broadcast. In the case of the overpaid talking heads, they also have a vested interest in maintaining conservative policies. This is the logical conclusion of for profit news organizations.

Without a fairness doctrine, it's unlikely we'll see any changes.

Truly amazing! Teh Stupid is very strong in that thread.:D

They are having such a field day with the few "extremists" at McCain rallys, don't you wish a couple of DUers could get the microphone at an Obama rally? People across America would be shaking their head and saying "what the heck was that???"

#1- Palin is a pornstar? The DUmp ia always so informative!

#2- Was there ever any doubt that the Fairness Doctrine has always been about shutting us up? Unbelievable.
