Hi
My mother is in a nursing home and is declining fast..I signed a do not resuscitate order because they say at her age(93) it would hurt her....I'm miserable thinking about it:blue:

My dad has a DNR order in place-he lives in Florida and after the Terri Schiavo case, he made sure he had one. He still named my brother as executor of his estate, rather than me or my sister, because "your brother hates me enough to make sure they pull the plug".

Nobody wants to suffer needlessly. Nobody wants to watch a loved one suffer needlessly. You did the right thing.

I have my father's power of attorney and power of medical attorney, so there's no question about what to do when/if the time comes. My husband and I also have them in place for each other. There's no substitute for preparing ahead of time.

I've been there, done that, and it's the hardest thing I've been through. Take care of yourself as much as you can.
