2 of My Neighbors have taken down their McCain/Palin signs (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x4234156)

I have been living in a sea of M/P signs when my neighbors across the street put up their Obama sign, I then went and got mine. Then another neighbor diagonally from us put up their Obama yard sign. Last night, as I drove down the road I noticed that 2 of my other neighbors had taken down their M/P signs. Nothing has replaced them as of yet.

Hopefully, they have figured it out. Both of them had Bush signs in 2000 and 2004. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/images/hi2.gif

That's probably closer to the truth. ;)

It was time to mow the lawn.

Maybe they realized all the local Obama fans and were worried about having their house mysteriously catch on fire.

Yep, the signs were probably stolen, not taken down by the owners.

On my daily commute through the Champlain Islands of Vermont and onto the mainland, I have seen a lot of lawn signs along the way. Interestingly, they are almost all for local/state races. I have only seen two lawn signs for the presidential election along my 50 mile route. Both of them were McCain/Palin signs. Of course, my commute ends just short of Burlington, where I am sure there is a sea of Obama signs.

My brother took a different route to work a couple weeks ago because he was late and wanted to avoid highway congestion. At one point, he saw a bunch of Republican signs that had been discarded on the side of the road by some thief/vandal. He unfortunately didn't have his digital camera with him.

If this story is even remotely true, the signs were stolen. I have had only one bumper sticker on my car ever. It read "How many times must Bush win?". This was, of course, during the 2000 election fiasco. The sticker was removed from my car in a grocery store parking lot. I'm sure I could have read about it at the DUmp had I been around back then.
